Antoine Gizardin takes commercial responsibility for more than 3,000 hotels
Having taken up his position in September 2026, Antoine Gizardin officially announced his appointment on LinkedIn on 13 October.
He assumes commercial responsibility for Accor’s Premium, Midscale & Economy brands across Europe and North Africa, covering more than 3,000 properties according to his professional profile.
His remit encompasses sales, marketing, distribution, revenue management, loyalty and commercial strategy. His responsibilities will include strengthening hotel performance, brand value and the commercial contribution delivered to owners and franchise partners.
The appointment comes within the framework of Accor’s organisational structure built around its two major divisions, Premium, Midscale & Economy and Luxury & Lifestyle.
More than thirty years with Procter & Gamble and Estée Lauder
Accor’s new executive has built almost his entire career outside the hospitality industry.
After sixteen years with Procter & Gamble, where he held various international commercial responsibilities, notably in Southern Africa and Europe, Antoine Gizardin joined The Estée Lauder Companies in 2009.
He subsequently spent sixteen years with the company, holding successive positions in commercial leadership for the EMEA region, general management in Russia, Ukraine and the CIS, and vice-presidential responsibilities for Western Europe.
Between 2018 and 2020, he oversaw a $1.2 billion business spanning nine subsidiaries, with particular emphasis on digital transformation and distribution partnerships.
From 2020 to 2025, he served as Senior Vice President Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. His responsibilities included managing a $600 million portfolio across Southeast Asia and the Pacific and supporting the transformation of an organisation employing approximately 2,300 people.
Following a period dedicated to Meridian Advisory, the consultancy he founded in early 2026, he joined Accor.
From beauty and luxury to hospitality: Significant precedents
Antoine Gizardin’s appointment is not an isolated case.
In September 2023, Laurent Kleitman, former Chairman and CEO of Parfums Christian Dior, became Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. Before Dior, he had also held senior positions at Coty and Unilever.
La Tribune de l’Hôtellerie covered his appointment at Mandarin Oriental at the time.
Another example is Benjamin Vuchot, appointed Chief Executive Officer of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, the parent company of Peninsula Hotels, in 2025. His career has been largely centred on luxury, with responsibilities at Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Sephora and DFS Group.
These career paths do not all correspond to the same type of position: Laurent Kleitman and Benjamin Vuchot assumed chief executive responsibilities at hotel groups, whereas Antoine Gizardin is taking on a regional commercial leadership role at Accor.
Nevertheless, they reflect a shared interest in expertise developed in related industries: international brand development, consumer insights, distribution, customer experience and performance management.
LTH Analysis | Hospitality broadens its executive talent pool
Antoine Gizardin’s appointment confirms a shift in the profiles sought by major hotel groups.
As their business models increasingly depend on brand strength, distribution, loyalty and owner relationships, the skills developed in the beauty and luxury sectors are becoming particularly relevant.
The career paths of Laurent Kleitman at Mandarin Oriental and Benjamin Vuchot at Peninsula illustrate this openness at the highest levels of hospitality organisations.
However, it would be an overstatement to interpret this trend as the replacement of executives with hotel operations backgrounds. The industry’s specific characteristics remain decisive: perishable inventory, seasonality, operational intensity, diverse ownership models and investor expectations.
The real opportunity lies in bringing together two professional cultures: hotel operations and international brand development.
With Antoine Gizardin, Accor has chosen an executive experienced in multi-brand commercial strategies and omnichannel distribution. The question now is how that expertise will translate into revenue growth, stronger customer loyalty and value creation for hotels and their owners.
