2026, United Kingdom | Cain International completes Arena Point, Europe’s tallest student residence, in Leeds

Cain International has announced the completion of Arena Point, a 45-storey, 634-bed tower in Leeds, now Europe's tallest purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme. Developed with Olympian Homes and contractor RG Group, the asset will be operated by Fusion Students from the 2026/27 academic year. The delivery takes Cain's premium bed count across two UK Russell Group university cities to more than 1,100 in the recent period.

Turkish hospitality group Kaya Hotels & Resorts has completed the acquisition of the ME Barcelona, a 164-room five-star hotel at the junction of Passeig de Gràcia and Carrer de Casp, from Spanish developer Actual Capital, for a sum exceeding €100 million. The property, operated by Meliá Hotels International under its ME by Meliá lifestyle brand, is set to be rebranded Kaya Palazzo Barcelona from 1 January 2028.

2028, Kenya | Gulf Hotels Group signs the Silva Gigiri Hotel & Residence in Nairobi

Gulf Hotels Group (GHG) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kenyan developer Silva Gigiri Ltd to develop the Silva Gigiri Hotel & Residence, a mixed-use hotel and branded residences scheme in Nairobi's Gigiri diplomatic district. The agreement, announced on 17 August 2026 from Manama, marks the Bahraini group's second hotel management contract in East Africa, following the Ocean Paradise Resort in Zanzibar. It forms part of GHG's 2026-2030 strategy, which aims to strengthen its management platform across the African continent through an asset-light model.

2031, India | Accor signs Fairmont Rishikesh Himalayas

Accor and Indian developer Javi Group have announced the signing of Fairmont Rishikesh Himalayas, a 220-room resort due to open in 2031 in the Shivpuri region at the foot of the Himalayas. Set on the banks of the Ganges in Uttarakhand, the project strengthens Accor's luxury brand positioning in one of India's most dynamic tourism and spiritual markets.

North America | Daniel Dubowski appointed Chief Information Security Officer at Marriott International

Marriott International has announced the appointment of Daniel Dubowski as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer, effective August 2026. The Goldman Sachs Group announced on 18 August 2026 the acquisition of LCN Capital Partners, a platform specialising in sale & leaseback transactions, for a consideration of up to €351M ($410M). The deal gives Goldman Sachs Asset Management a specific area of expertise - the resale of corporate real estate while preserving its use through a long-term lease - after two years marked by high interest rates that curbed investment in physical real estate. For the hospitality sector, the acquisition is also a reminder that LCN held exclusive talks in 2025 to buy nine Silken hotels in Spain, before ultimately being outbid by Hotusa.
