Accor has announced the opening of the Mercure Oradea, a new hotel located in the western part of the Romanian city, representing an investment of around EUR 15 million. The property marks the first Mercure-branded establishment in Oradea and further strengthens the group’s network in Romania.
A first Mercure address to consolidate the group’s presence in Romania
Andrii Davydenko, Vice President Operations Ukraine & Romania at Accor, said: “As the first Mercure address in the city, this new hotel marks an important step in consolidating our presence in Romania and in connecting Oradea to the international travel circuit.”
This opening forms part of the group’s broader push to strengthen its footprint in the Romanian market, a drive already reflected in other recent openings, including the country’s first Handwritten Collection property in Bucharest and the Mercure Brasov Cubix, which opened a few years earlier in Transylvania.
A franchise agreement with Grand Hotel West
The Mercure Oradea is operated under a franchise agreement with Grand Hotel West, a company controlled by Rareş Dacian Ticra, Bogdan Andrei Ticra, Dana Ticra and Andreea Copos. This franchise model, widely used by Accor to develop the Mercure brand across Europe, allows local investors to draw on the group’s reputation and operating standards while retaining management of the property.
90 rooms, including several suites with private jacuzzis
The hotel offers 90 rooms across classic, privilege and suite categories. Several rooms feature private balconies, while certain suites boast expansive terraces fitted with private outdoor jacuzzis — a positioning aimed at both business and leisure guests seeking differentiated amenities.
This kind of upmarket move within the Mercure brand echoes other recent developments by the group in Europe, such as the Mercure Hotel Pforzheim in Germany, also the result of a franchise partnership.
