An LXR address set in a former palace

Ali Nassila has announced on LinkedIn that he has taken up his position as General Manager of Maysan Doha, LXR Hotels & Resorts. The property belongs to Hilton’s collection of independent luxury hotels, whose roll-out LTH has followed, from the brand’s arrival in Diriyah to its debut in Greece with Sandblu Santorini.

Maysan Doha occupies a former palace on the edge of Aspire Park, in the Aspire Zone district of Al Rayyan. It presents itself as an urban resort built around privacy, some 13 kilometres from the city centre.

Every suite and villa has its own private pool. Facilities also include Yasmeen, a signature restaurant dedicated to Levantine cuisine, a spa and a 77 sq m meeting room.

Training between Morocco and France

Ali Nassila began his training in Morocco. He earned a hotel and restaurant technician diploma from the Institut de Technologie Hôtelière Appliquée in Ouarzazate (2001-2003), followed by an advanced technician certificate (brevet de technicien spécialisé) from the Institut Supérieur de Technologie Hôtelière et Touristique in Agadir (2003-2005).

He then continued his studies in France. He holds a bachelor’s degree in hotel management and foreign languages from the University of Nantes (2005-2006) and a Master 1 in tourism services management from the University of Bordeaux IV (2006-2007).

His career combines rooms, pre-opening, operations leadership and multi-property management across three distinct regions. The move from Marriott to Hilton comes in a market whose stakes LTH recently examined, with the creation of Doha Investment by the Qatar Investment Authority.

Early years in Parisian hospitality

His operational career began in Paris. From 2009 to 2011, he was Duty Manager at the Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe. He then joined the Courtyard by Marriott Paris Arcueil as Operations Manager, from January 2011 to June 2014.

Fez and Ouarzazate: growing responsibilities

In April 2016, Ali joined the pre-opening team of the Fes Marriott Jnan Palace as Director of Rooms. He was promoted to Director of Operations in March 2018 and remained in the role until August 2021, spending more than five years in Fez in total.

In September 2021, he stepped into his first general manager role, at Le Berbère Palace in Ouarzazate, the city where he had begun his training. He led the property until March 2023.

A foothold in the Gulf

In May 2023, he rejoined Marriott International as Cluster General Manager in Saudi Arabia, until March 2024. He was then appointed Director of Operations at the JW Marriott Kuwait, before joining Hilton and Maysan Doha.
