A profile drawn from the Supervisory Board

Kempinski Group has entrusted its finance function to Andrea Vanni, who brings more than 25 years’ experience in European luxury real estate. The choice rests on continuity: he has sat on the board of Kempinski A.G. for more than three years and therefore knows from the inside the brand and business transformation strategy the group has embarked upon.

This internal appointment is part of a series of recent moves at the top of the organisation. In mid-September, the group had already handed leadership of its global development to Noel Attard, a move presented as a natural progression rather than a break with the past.

A career spanning investment banking and development

Andrea Vanni‘s career has been built around debt and equity financing solutions for the real estate sector. He held senior positions at J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank before founding his own real estate financing and development companies, focused on luxury real estate and hospitality.

As a founder, he has led more than €20 billion of debt, equity and development transactions. His approach to finance and development is founded on building strong partnerships and lasting collaborations with investors.

Owner returns at the heart of the roadmap

René Nijhof, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kempinski Hotels S.A., highlighted the new CFO’s attentiveness to the expectations of asset owners. He described Andrea as a valued member of the Supervisory Board and a recognised authority on real estate investment and development, particularly mindful of profitability for owners and investors. In his view, the appointment will strengthen the group’s financial framework, improve the performance of its hotels and generate returns for its owners, who remain at the heart of its strategy.

He also expects Andrea Vanni to open up new avenues for growth through targeted acquisitions, management contracts, branded residences and the brand’s entry into priority and emerging markets.

Existing assets first

Andrea Vanni has set out a clear course for this new chapter. He said the next phase of Kempinski’s growth strategy will prioritise existing assets, raising the quality of its product and service while maximising returns for owners and investors. He noted that the group is privileged to work with partners deeply committed to the brand’s heritage, who entrust it with their landmark assets around the world.

He added that the priority is to keep building on these partnerships, deliver consistent performance and continue expanding Kempinski into new destinations, alongside new partners who share its ambition.

74 properties and more than 20 projects

Kempinski currently operates 74 properties in 33 countries and has more than 20 projects under development. Recent projects include the Kempinski Shekinah Palace in Douala, construction of which has been launched by ALS Group.

Analysis – By placing a real estate finance specialist at the head of its finances, the group is sending a clear signal to owners: the performance of assets already in the portfolio takes precedence over the race for volume, without giving up on selective growth.
