An established hotel changes flags

On 6 October 2026, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts announced that The Blasky Hotel & Rooftop, led by Tim Lichtenberg, is joining its Vienna House by Wyndham brand. The property takes the name Vienna House by Wyndham Frankfurt South. It is located in the Sachsenhausen district, on the south bank of the Main, close to Frankfurt’s financial centre, the city’s main cultural sites and the international airport.

The hotel has 104 rooms, including suites and loft-style accommodation. It retains the two features that made its name locally: The Blasky restaurant and its rooftop bar overlooking the skyline. The rebranding also brings new facilities, including a fitness area and a sauna.

According to Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the opening of Vienna House by Wyndham Frankfurt South reflects the group’s commitment to growing Vienna House in sought-after markets while celebrating the individuality of each hotel. By combining the property’s local character with Wyndham’s global reach, powerful distribution network and loyalty programme, he said, the group is creating more opportunities for guests to discover, connect and explore.

A former office building turned hotel in 2019

The building was converted into a hotel in 2019, and this history is now showcased throughout the property. Historic photographs, original plans and archive material from the conversion are on display, alongside travel photographs taken by members of the team. Together, they illustrate the brand’s “Endless Exploration” promise.

The Alexander boardroom is named after Alexander Tesler, the building’s architect, developer and owner. It houses his two-tonne marble conference table, taken from his former office, which followed him from the Philippines to Germany.

Dining, rooftop and events

The Blasky offers à la carte regional cuisine, a sharing concept and a daily breakfast buffet. The rooftop bar welcomes hotel guests as well as local residents and visitors. The offer also includes a mini-market in the lobby and parking for cars and bicycles.

The seven flexible rooms can host up to 200 people for meetings, conferences and private events. One of them, the Palmengarten, is named after the city’s famous botanical garden, with its plants and palm trees extending onto an adjoining terrace.

A works programme to reach 139 keys

A major works programme is under way. Around 700 sq m of previously unused space is being redeveloped to enlarge the lobby and meeting areas. The outdoor garden will also be renovated.

The project also includes the addition of 35 rooms by the end of 2027, bringing the hotel’s capacity to 139 rooms and suites.

Analysis – The deal follows a three-stage pattern: an asset that is already operating and known locally, repositioning under an international brand, then expansion using existing floor space. The 35 new keys represent an increase of roughly a third on current capacity.

Wyndham strengthens its presence in the Rhine-Main region

In Frankfurt, the property adds to Wyndham’s portfolio in the Rhine-Main region. The group already operates the Wyndham Frankfurt Niederrad, the Aspire Frankfurt Airport, part of the Trademark Collection by Wyndham, and the Dolce by Wyndham Bad Nauheim. The announcement comes a few weeks after the Wyndham brand’s arrival in Frankfurt with the 146-room Wyndham Frankfurt Niederrad.

Hotel guests can now take part in Wyndham Rewards, the group’s global loyalty programme.

A brand expanding beyond Europe

Earlier this year, Vienna House by Wyndham entered Vietnam with the opening of Vienna House by Wyndham Charm Long Hai, a five-star beachfront resort in the coastal town of Long Hai.

The brand has also announced its arrival in India with the signing of Vienna House Easy Vrindavan, a 100-room hotel scheduled to open in 2029. An entry into Turkey is expected by the end of the year.
