Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali has entrusted its general management to Goktan Kavak, a hotel executive with international experience built across the Middle East, Europe and the Pacific. His appointment was confirmed by the resort’s management, which highlighted his track record with well-known industry brands including Hilton, Sheraton, Warwick Hotels & Resorts and Accor.
At the helm of Grand Mirage, Goktan Kavak is set to guide the property into a new phase of development, building on its all-inclusive, beachfront positioning in Tanjung Benoa. The resort’s management says the priorities for this mandate will centre on the guest experience, team development and the property’s continued growth.
A move shaped by his time at Novotel Suva Lami Bay
Before joining Bali, Goktan Kavak had, since November 2025, been running Novotel Suva Lami Bay in Fiji, a 108-room property with two dining outlets and one of Suva’s largest conference spaces, comprising seven meeting rooms and a team of nearly one hundred. Over that period, the hotel recorded year-on-year total revenue growth of 18.3% against 2025, a performance slightly ahead of budget.
Occupancy rose by 7.6 points over the same period, with rooms sold up 17.1%. The food and beverage segment stood out in particular, with F&B revenue growth of 44.6%, finishing 20.3% above budget. Gross operating profit (GOP) also improved, up 5.1 points, despite pressure on room rates. MICE and events activity followed the same trend, with quote value up 49% and the conversion rate improving by 86%.
Eight years with Warwick Hotels and Resorts
Goktan Kavak‘s career was largely built at Warwick Hotels and Resorts, a group whose Asia-Pacific headquarters are based in Fiji. There, he served as General Manager of Warwick Fiji, a five-star, 247-room resort with seven dining outlets, six beverage outlets and a team of more than 400, between August 2023 and October 2025. Prior to that, he had held the role of Resort Manager from June 2022.
His time at Warwick also saw him serve as Group Revenue Manager for the MENA region, overseeing revenue strategy across fifteen properties in the Middle East and North Africa, and as interim General Manager of Warwick Le Lagon Resort in Vanuatu, between March 2020 and September 2021. He also held the role of Regional Revenue Manager for the South Pacific and Indonesia, before beginning his career with the group in Iraq, as Revenue Manager of a 284-room property.
Early career in Turkish hospitality and training at Cornell
Before moving to the Middle East and then the Pacific, Goktan Kavak began his career in Türkiye, where he held front office roles at DoubleTree by Hilton Avanos, Cappadocia, at Sheraton Cesme Resort Hotel & SPA and at D-Resort Göcek. He holds a Master Certificate in Hospitality Management from Cornell University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Erciyes University. He is fluent in English and Turkish, and has a working knowledge of Arabic.
What the appointment means for Grand Mirage
Located in Tanjung Benoa, Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali is built around an all-inclusive, beachfront concept, with a Thalasso spa and several on-site restaurants. The property’s management is presenting Goktan Kavak’s arrival as a step designed to consolidate this positioning, drawing on his new General Manager’s experience in commercial performance, F&B management and hotel improvement projects.
The appointment also reflects the broader mobility of senior hotel executives between the Pacific and Southeast Asian markets, a trend already seen in Bali with the appointment of Vincent Durier as General Manager of Alila Villas Uluwatu. It also comes as hotel groups active in the Pacific strengthen their regional governance, as illustrated by the recent appointment of Craig Kelmar to lead the Pullman, Novotel and ibis Sydney Olympic Park complex for Accor.
