IHG Hotels & Resorts has become the first hotel company to debut a dedicated LINE MINI App in the Thailand and Taiwan markets. The initiative forms part of the group’s wider digital strategy of meeting travellers on the platforms they already use every day.

A direct extension of the Japanese success story

This rollout builds on last year’s launch in Japan, where IHG‘s LINE MINI App attracted more than four million followers. The app now brings together the group’s portfolio of more than 7,000 hotels, access to the IHG One Rewards programme, and exclusive offers, all directly within LINE, one of Asia’s most widely used communication platforms.

The group is thereby continuing its expansion in Thailand, a market where its hotel presence continues to strengthen alongside this digital initiative.

LINE, an essential part of everyday digital life in Asia

LINE claims 195 million monthly active users across Asia, including 56 million in Thailand and 22 million in Taiwan — around 94% of the Taiwanese market’s population. This exceptional penetration makes it one of the most deeply embedded communication channels in the world, and a strategic touchpoint for hotel companies seeking to reach their local customers directly.

Booking, loyalty and account management brought together in a single tool

The app allows users to search for, discover and book a stay among the group’s more than 7,000 hotels worldwide. It also offers the ability to sign up free of charge to the IHG One Rewards programme, with simplified one-click sign-in using users’ existing LINE credentials.

Members can also track their status, check their points, redeem rewards and access programme benefits, including dining privileges available in Thailand.

Official statements confirming the group’s regional ambitions

Dean Jones, Vice President Commercial, East Asia & Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, notes that the group has always championed a culture of being first, and that this digital acceleration is no exception. He points out that becoming the first hotel company to launch a LINE MINI App in Thailand and Taiwan reflects the group’s commitment to meeting guests where they already spend their time, and to making discovery, booking and the overall brand experience easier.

Rita Jiang, Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer, Greater China at IHG Hotels & Resorts, explains that guests in Thailand and Taiwan are deeply embedded in the LINE ecosystem, with the platform playing a central role in their everyday digital lives. She notes that this launch reflects the group’s ongoing commitment to a seamless, mobile-first experience.

Launch campaigns designed for local engagement

To mark the app’s debut, IHG One Rewards is rolling out a series of initiatives throughout August aimed at driving member engagement. Beyond core features such as checking points, and searching for and booking hotels, users can enjoy gamified experiences, earn LINE Points through targeted promotions, and take part in member-exclusive activities.

A limited-edition series of travel-themed LINE stickers will also be made available to Thai users. These were created by the illustrator duo Sundae Kids, known for their comic strips celebrating small everyday moments.

Another building block in the group’s digital strategy

This launch forms part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ wider technology innovation strategy, which aims to make trip planning more intuitive, personalised and connected. In parallel, the group continues to invest in AI-powered conversational search and in its digital channels at every stage of the guest journey, supporting a portfolio that continues to grow and today numbers more than 7,000 hotels worldwide.

The Goldman Sachs Group announced on 18 August 2026 the acquisition of LCN Capital Partners, a platform specialising in sale & leaseback transactions, for a consideration of up to €351M ($410M). The deal gives Goldman Sachs Asset Management a specific area of expertise - the resale of corporate real estate while preserving its use through a long-term lease - after two years marked by high interest rates that curbed investment in physical real estate. For the hospitality sector, the acquisition is also a reminder that LCN held exclusive talks in 2025 to buy nine Silken hotels in Spain, before ultimately being outbid by Hotusa.
