A second InterContinental with Farglory Group
InterContinental Taipei is the second collaboration between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Farglory Group under the InterContinental banner, following InterContinental Kaohsiung. The partnership continues with the recently signed Hualien Farglory Hotel, Vignette Collection.
Together, these three projects strengthen the group’s presence in the Luxury & Lifestyle segment in Greater China. They also illustrate IHG’s strategy of building long-term relationships with trusted local owners to roll out its upscale brands.
A location at the heart of the Taipei Dome
The hotel sits at the centre of the Taipei Dome complex in the Xinyi District, one of the most dynamic hubs in the Taiwanese capital. The location connects it directly to the city’s business, cultural, dining and events scene. Some rooms offer views of Taipei 101.
The opening coincides with the 80th anniversary of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. The hotel caters to international guests and local residents alike, for business stays, leisure breaks and private events.
347 rooms, seven dining concepts
InterContinental Taipei has 347 rooms and suites. Classic rooms start at approximately 38 sq m, while the residential-style suites, from approximately 76 sq m, feature a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area and private laundry facilities.
The food and beverage offering comprises seven distinct concepts, including restaurants led by chef Akira Back. The hotel also offers flexible event spaces, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and a Club InterContinental.
The design is built around the principle of “In Taipei, For Taipei”. The city’s architecture, culture and collective memory shape the entire guest journey, from the lobby installation to the musical motifs woven into the event spaces.
A hotel rooted in the city
Robbert Manussen, Area General Manager Luxury & Lifestyle for IHG’s Taiwan market and General Manager of InterContinental Taipei, sums up the project’s ambition. He describes Taipei as a city of extraordinary energy and modernity, but also one defined by a singular warmth and an exceptionally rich way of life. The aim, he explains, is for InterContinental Taipei to be more than a hotel in Taipei: it should be seen as a hotel that belongs to Taipei.
He adds that the team wants the hotel to become a gateway to the city – a place where international travellers can discover Taipei in greater depth, and where local guests can find new ways to enjoy the city they live in.
InterContinental’s Taiwan network now complete
The Taipei property joins three other InterContinental hotels in the Taiwanese market: InterContinental Kaohsiung, opened in 2021; InterContinental Taichung, opened in 2024; and InterContinental New Taipei Hot Spring, opened in 2025 as the brand’s first hot spring resort in the country.
According to IHG, this portfolio demonstrates the brand’s ability to deliver a differentiated luxury offering in both major urban centres and resort destinations, for international and domestic guests alike.
Analysis – With a hotel in each of the island’s main cities plus a resort, InterContinental now covers the two main drivers of upscale demand in Taiwan. The Taipei opening, within a leading events complex, gives the brand a showcase in the capital.
Growth prospects in the Taiwanese market
IHG says it is confident in the long-term potential of Taiwan’s hotel sector, underpinned by the island’s cultural heritage, the diversity of its tourism offering and its appeal to regional and international travellers.
The group sees demand shifting towards more differentiated, experience-led travel. Against this backdrop, it intends to continue expanding with trusted owners and partners in targeted destinations, pairing international brands with locally rooted experiences.
