Julien Michelot takes the helm at L’Isle de Leos

The Provençal property L’Isle de Leos MGallery Collection, located in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, has officially announced the appointment of Julien Michelot as General Manager.

He succeeds the experienced and respected Emmanuel Borla, who oversaw the launch and development of the property, which is affiliated with Accor’s MGallery collection.

In its announcement, the hotel states that its former General Manager’s departure follows three years dedicated to the project and represents a professional move that had been planned for several months.

The announcement confirms the leadership change we had previously reported in our 360° news round-up of 16 October 2026.

A career shaped by leading luxury hotels and resorts

Julien Michelot brings more than twenty years of experience in upscale and luxury hospitality, both in France and internationally.

His career has included several prestigious establishments:

  • Hôtel de Crillon, Paris.
  • Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris.
  • Groupe Barrière.
  • Evian Royal Resort.
  • Es Saadi Marrakech Resort, Morocco.
  • Villa Sahrai, Casablanca, where he was involved in the opening.

His background combines experience in Parisian palace hotels, resorts and luxury properties operating in different tourism environments.

His experience of hotel openings is particularly relevant to L’Isle de Leos, a relatively new property whose priorities now include consolidating its market positioning and operational performance.

The announcement does not specify the exact positions Julien Michelot held at each of these establishments.

Emmanuel Borla departs after three years dedicated to the project

In its statement, L’Isle de Leos thanks Emmanuel Borla for his commitment and contribution throughout the property’s launch and development phases.

The hotel highlights two achievements during his tenure.

The La Roue restaurant was awarded Maître Restaurateur status, while the hotel was included in the MICHELIN Guide’s 2026 hotel selection.

These distinctions have helped establish the property’s reputation in Provence’s upscale hospitality market.

The hotel describes his departure as the pursuit of a new professional opportunity, planned several months in advance.

A leadership change previously reported by LTH on 16 October

The appointment comes just days after information concerning the property’s management was published.

In our international news round-up of 16 October 2026, we reported, drawing in particular on information published by Voici, the departure of Emmanuel Borla and that of the Human Resources Director.

At the time, the magazine referred to workplace tensions within the establishment and reported that a complaint alleging workplace bullying had been filed.

These matters are based on press reports and allegations and must not be treated as facts established through judicial proceedings. We have previously examined this changing balance of power between employers and employees. An HR expert we consulted openly expressed outrage at what he described as a new climate of fear created by “complaints” or “covert audio recordings of managers” in an opinion piece entitled “Hospitality Has an HR Problem!” When Employment Law Becomes a Weapon of Managerial Destruction.

In the absence of further information, it is not possible to establish a causal link between the matters reported in the press and the departure of several hotel executives.

LTH Analysis | A management transition at a property still consolidating its position

Julien Michelot’s appointment comes at a particular stage in the development of L’Isle de Leos.

Having completed the design, opening and initial commercial launch phases, the property must now consolidate its positioning within Provence’s upscale hospitality market.

This stage requires different skills from those needed during a hotel opening.

Workforce stability, consistent service quality, guest loyalty, food and beverage performance and sound financial management become key operational priorities.

Julien Michelot’s experience, gained in palace hotels, resorts and international properties, represents an asset in supporting this transition.

Nevertheless, the management change takes place against a backdrop of published reports concerning the workplace environment.

Without prejudging the accuracy of those reports or any possible subsequent developments, they highlight the importance of people management and governance in luxury hospitality, where the quality of the guest experience depends directly on employee stability and engagement.

For the new General Manager, the challenge will be to continue enhancing the value and reputation of this Provençal property while consolidating its organisation and sustaining operational performance over the long term.
