Germany | Leonardo Hotels Acquires Four Hotels in a Single Deal Across Berlin, Düsseldorf and Dortmund
Leonardo Hotels Central Europe announced on 15 September 2026 the simultaneous acquisition of four properties in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Dortmund, adding 1,040 rooms to its portfolio. The deal, drawn from the former Revo Hotels portfolio, strengthens the group's presence in three major German business markets and confirms the continuation of its development strategy in the country.
Leonardo Hotels Central Europe continues to build up its presence in Germany, simultaneously taking over two hotels on Alexanderplatz in Berlin, as well as one property in Düsseldorf and another in Dortmund. All four addresses come from the former Revo Hotels portfolio and add 1,040 rooms to the group’s estate.
This bundled acquisition reflects a strategy the group has already proven in other European markets, echoing its recent European growth through acquisitions and renovations. The new properties diversify Leonardo Hotels’ offering, combining efficiency-focused concepts with formats dedicated to the business and MICE segment.

Berlin adds 624 rooms to its hotel portfolio
The two hotels opened on Alexanderplatz bring Leonardo Hotels’ Berlin portfolio to nine properties, with a combined total of 624 rooms. The location, in close proximity to the television tower and public transport networks, makes it one of the most strategic hotel sites in the German capital.
The Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz by Leonardo Hotels, formerly an H4, will initially operate as a white-label property before being fully integrated under the Leonardo Hotels brand once the integration phase is complete. The property has 336 rooms and suites, a restaurant, a bar, a fitness and sauna area, and 13 meeting rooms with capacity for more than 700 people, a clear focus on business and events clientele.
Right next door, the Leonardo Smart Berlin Alexanderplatz, the second property to launch under the group’s newest brand, occupies the former H2 Hotel. It offers 288 rooms, a breakfast restaurant, a mini-market, a bicycle rental service and parking spaces, with family rooms accommodating up to four people.
North Rhine-Westphalia: two concepts, two cities
In North Rhine-Westphalia, Leonardo Hotels is also rolling out two distinct formats. The Leonardo Smart Düsseldorf, another former H2 Hotel, adds 250 rooms to the portfolio and is located around one kilometre from the central station and five kilometres from the airport. The property has a 280-cover restaurant, a bar and parking, with multi-bed rooms accommodating up to four people as well as rooms accessible to guests with disabilities.

This new address brings the group’s hotel count in the regional capital to five and marks the arrival of the state’s very first Leonardo Smart property.
In Dortmund, the Leonardo Royal Dortmund, formerly the Steigenberger Dortmund, is positioned in the business and MICE segment. Located opposite the city’s trade fair and convention centre, it has 166 rooms and suites, a restaurant with a terrace, a bar and a wellness area including sauna, steam bath and fitness room. Six meeting rooms, with capacity for up to 200 people, round out the events offering.
Dortmund’s city centre, the Westfalenpark and the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK stadium are within two kilometres of the property, which becomes the group’s second hotel in the city. Major renovation work is planned from next year, with a full modernisation of the rooms and communal areas. This type of repositioning echoes the strategy the group has already pursued at other recently acquired European assets, such as the former Hilton Évian-les-Bains taken over by Leonardo Hotels.
A step in a wider movement
This simultaneous takeover of four former Revo Hotels properties reflects Leonardo Hotels’ intention to keep developing its network in strong urban locations. While the Leonardo Smart brand favours a simple, efficient experience, Leonardo Royal targets the specific needs of business and MICE clientele. The two concepts allow the group to address distinct market segments within the same destinations.
The group indicated that further properties from the Revo Hotels portfolio are expected to join its network in the coming weeks, confirming that this growth drive in Germany is not yet complete.

Yoram Biton, managing director of Leonardo Hotels Central Europe, said the group’s acquisition of four hotels at once sends a strong signal about its continued growth in Germany. He noted that Berlin, Düsseldorf and Dortmund are attractive markets for the group, with strong demand across different segments, and said the new hotels would allow it to expand its offering and welcome even more guests in these key destinations, while also strengthening its presence in each of these cities.
