A career rooted in London luxury hospitality

Minor Hotels, which has more than 640 properties in operation and development across 67 countries, has entrusted Marco Ercolano with the pre-opening of The WestDill Mayfair Hotel London, Colbert Collection. The appointment marks a key step in preparing for the brand’s UK debut, where the group is set to open the Colbert Collection’s second flagship property worldwide.

Marco Ercolano brings almost two decades of experience in the British capital’s luxury hotels. His career, built around operations and Food & Beverage, has seen him hold leadership positions at St. Ermin’s Hotel, Autograph Collection by Marriott; The Trafalgar St. James, Curio Collection by Hilton; Canopy by Hilton London City; The Ritz London; and Bulgari Hotel & Residences London.

He holds an Advanced Hotel Revenue Management certificate from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management from the University of West London.

An operational and commercial roadmap

In his new role, Marco Ercolano will oversee the hotel’s entire operational and commercial strategy. His brief is to embody in London the philosophy of the Colbert Collection, which positions its properties as hotels “with soul”.

Marco Ercolano said he was honoured to lead the opening of The WestDill Mayfair, a project that brings together London’s heritage, contemporary culture and the Colbert Collection’s thoughtful approach to hospitality. He sees it as an opportunity to shape a distinctive hotel where guests and Londoners alike can come together around art, gastronomy and a genuine sense of community.

For Giles Selves, Senior Vice President, Luxury Hotels, Europe & Americas at Minor Hotels, the choice rests on proven market experience. He said the group was delighted to welcome Marco at the helm of its London flagship at a major development milestone for Minor Hotels, adding that his strong track record in London luxury, combined with recognised expertise in pre-openings and operational excellence, made him the ideal leader to introduce the Colbert Collection to the UK market.

Colbert Collection, a soft brand in expansion

In March 2026, Minor Hotels unveiled the Colbert Collection, a premium soft brand bringing together independent hotels around culture, culinary art and human connection. The group then announced the brand’s arrival in London with The WestDill Mayfair Hotel, housed in a Grade II-listed former bank headquarters on Piccadilly, with opening expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The brand is also pursuing its international roll-out, having signed its first resort in Asia, on Koh Samui. In London, The WestDill joins a Mayfair where several high-end projects are progressing in parallel, such as the forthcoming Oberoi Mayfair, and where leadership teams are being renewed, as illustrated by the recent appointment of Martijn Zengerink at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.
