The Standard, London has announced the appointment of Murray Scott as General Manager of the property, located in the King’s Cross district. The appointment, effective since July 2026, comes after a little over two years spent by the hotelier at the helm of The Hoxton, Holborn.
An appointment within Hyatt’s lifestyle strategy
The Standard is part of Standard International, a group that joined Hyatt’s lifestyle portfolio following the acquisition announced by the American group at the end of 2024. The appointment thus forms part of the growing momentum of Hyatt’s lifestyle segment, which aims to strengthen the presence of its flagship brands in major international hotel markets, with London at the forefront.
A career built in London’s lifestyle hotel scene
Before joining The Standard, Murray Scott served as General Manager of The Hoxton, Holborn from June 2024. He had previously led The Hoxton, Shoreditch between December 2022 and June 2024, the brand’s founding property in London.
This two-year spell across two Hoxton properties allowed him to build a recognised expertise in the lifestyle segment, a positioning he now brings to The Standard, a brand with which he shares a bold, unconventional hospitality culture.

Key milestones between luxury and lifestyle
Murray Scott‘s career spans more than 21 years in international hospitality. He served as Cluster General Manager for NH Hotel Group between August 2021 and December 2022, overseeing the Nhow London and the NH Kensington, before joining The Hoxton, Shoreditch.
His career was previously built within London luxury properties: Hotel Manager of the Bankside Hotel (2019-2021), Director of Operations at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square (2017-2019), then Front Office Manager at the Park Tower Knightsbridge, A Luxury Collection Hotel (2014-2017). He began his career at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa Edinburgh, rising through the ranks from room attendant to acting Front Office Manager, between 2005 and 2014.
Education and outlook
Murray Scott recently completed Cornell University’s General Managers Programme in June 2026. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from Edinburgh Napier University, obtained in 2011.
