With a career spanning more than forty years at the helm of luxury properties across four continents, the French hotelier takes on the general manager’s role at a hotel operating in a Dhaka market undergoing intense competitive restructuring.
Hotel Sarina Dhaka has appointed Patrick Beck as its General Manager, the property announced in a statement released on 2 September 2026. The French hotel executive brings more than forty years of international experience, including eighteen years at the helm of nine properties across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and North America. His arrival comes as Dhaka’s hospitality sector restructures in the face of growing international competition and rising MICE and diplomatic demand.
A career built across four continents
A graduate of Lycée Chevrus in Bordeaux, Patrick Beck has held nine general manager positions over the past eighteen years, including at Katameya Heights and Pyramisa Hotels & Resorts in Egypt, the Terelj Hotel in Ulaanbaatar — a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World — as well as the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel in Bali and the Hotel Borobudur in Jakarta.
His career also took him to Chroma Hospitality’s Quest Hotel and Conference Center in Clark, and then to Swiss-Belhotel International, where he led the Hotel Ciputra World Surabaya. He subsequently headed the Sea Cliff Resort & Spa in Zanzibar — a market where several groups are accelerating their expansion across the Indian Ocean — before overseeing the pre-opening of the 400-room TUI Blue Curaçao Beach Resort.
Culinary beginnings, from Marriott to Lenôtre
Unlike a typical front-office trajectory, Patrick Beck‘s career began in the kitchen: he joined Marriott Hotels as Executive Sous Chef in 1985, before moving to Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, first as Food & Beverage Manager in Beverly Hills, then as Assistant Hotel Manager in San Francisco, where he became a member of the group’s international pre-opening team.
He then joined Lenôtre in Paris as Director of Production Operations, overseeing more than 6,000 meals a day across restaurants, receptions and international events, before becoming General Manager of the Egyptian franchise of the Alain Lenôtre house in Cairo and Alexandria. According to the hotel’s statement, this period saw him lead a team of 485 chefs, including eleven holders of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France title.
F&B expertise serving the hotel’s five outlets
Hotel Sarina Dhaka highlights Patrick Beck’s expertise in food and beverage and events, particularly his development of wedding and banqueting business in Zanzibar and Bali, which the hotel considers directly relevant to its five food and beverage outlets: Summerfields, Amrit, Risotto, Street 17 Café and Elite Club.
According to the same source, he also holds ISO-9001 and HACCP quality and food safety certifications, as well as a Franklin Covey leadership certification obtained in Indonesia and the Philippines, complemented by crisis management training. He speaks English, French and Spanish — an asset the hotel considers important given its diplomatic, corporate and leisure clientele.
A Dhaka market taking shape
The hotel notes that Dhaka’s hospitality sector is strengthening on the back of the arrival of international brands, rising corporate and diplomatic travel, and a growing MICE segment. As also illustrated by the recent regional restructuring among several operators in Southeast Asia, food and beverage and events are emerging as strategic revenue drivers, powered by weddings, buffets and corporate events.
The hotel says it expects Patrick Beck‘s international expertise and his oversight of food and beverage operations to strengthen the property’s commercial performance, elevate the guest experience across all outlets, and consolidate its position among Bangladesh’s leading upscale hotel addresses.
