A Swiss hotelier with long-standing roots in Asia
A Swiss national, Patrick Manthe brings more than 25 years of international hospitality experience across Asia, Europe and Australia. He joins Avani+ Luang Prabang from his previous post as General Manager of Amari Pattaya, in Thailand.
There, he oversaw the resort’s operations and commercial strategy. He also led the development of its food and beverage offering and guest experience.
Record results in the Philippines
Before joining Amari, Patrick Manthe successively led Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan and Crimson Resort & Spa Boracay, in the Philippines. In Boracay, he steered the resort’s reopening. In 2022, the property’s revenue and gross operating profit (GOP) reached record levels.
He also strengthened the property’s identity by weaving art and cultural experiences into its guest offering.
Bangkok, Hanoi and a strong F&B pedigree
His career previously saw him spend four years at the helm of Chatrium Hotel & Residence Riverside Bangkok, before leading the pre-opening of U Sathorn Bangkok. He has also served as Hotel Manager of Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn Bangkok and General Manager of Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi.
These roles followed several senior food and beverage positions with the Conrad and Hilton brands. Patrick Manthe holds a Higher Diploma in Hotel Management from the Swiss School of Hotel and Tourism Management, in Switzerland.
A destination-focused roadmap
At Avani+ Luang Prabang, he will be responsible for operations, commercial performance and team development. Working closely with his teams, he will be tasked with upholding Avani’s signature service and developing guest experiences that reflect the city’s culture and traditions.
Patrick Manthe said that Luang Prabang is a destination where a sense of place lies at the heart of the guest experience, and that he looks forward to working with the team to strengthen the hotel’s ties with the city and its community. His priority, he added, is to support colleagues in delivering thoughtful, personalised service, and to help guests discover the cuisine, culture and everyday traditions that make a stay here memorable.
A second Laotian foothold for Minor Hotels
Located in Luang Prabang’s old town, opposite the night market, Avani+ Luang Prabang is surrounded by temples, boutiques and cafés. Its 53 rooms combine contemporary comfort with direct access to the city’s living heritage, as well as experiences on the Mekong.
The hotel is one of two Avani properties in Laos, alongside Avani+ Lanexang Vientiane, which opened in July 2026. The destination is also drawing the attention of major international groups: Marriott has announced the arrival of The Luxury Collection in Luang Prabang through the conversion of La Résidence Phou Vao.
Avani, Minor Hotels’ lifestyle brand
Launched in 2011, Avani Hotels & Resorts comprises more than 40 properties across five continents. The portfolio spans premium city hotels, tropical resorts and nature retreats, with an offering built on thoughtful design, relaxed service and good value.
The brand draws on the Minor DISCOVERY loyalty programme, part of GHA DISCOVERY. In Southeast Asia, Minor Hotels continues its expansion, notably with the signing of Avani+ Hanoi, scheduled to open in 2028.
