Haider Mbarek has been appointed General Manager of Aurora Tunisie, a hotel complex located in Sfax, taking up the role in August 2026. The appointment comes amid growing hotel development in Sfax, a city that has in recent years seen the arrival of the Radisson Hotel Sfax.
Over twenty years’ experience across Tunisia, Algeria and Libya
A graduate of a BTS (Brevet de technicien supérieur) in Food and Beverage from the Institut Supérieur d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme de Tunis, Haider Mbarek has built his career around a dual expertise in food and beverage and hotel operations management. He has held General Manager positions at Les Oliviers Palace Sfax, Pentapolis Hotel in Libya, and the former AVANI Hotels and Resorts property in Tunis, since converted into ADAM Hotel Suites.
His career has also taken him through Radisson Blu Djerba and the Ecole Supérieure d’Hôtellerie et de Restauration in Algiers, as well as La Cigale Tabarka Hôtel-Thalasso & Spa – Golf, where he successively held the roles of Food and Beverage Manager and Assistant General Manager during the property’s opening.
A career built around property openings
A significant part of Haider Mbarek’s career has centred on pre-opening and opening projects. He held Food and Beverage Manager roles during the launch of several properties, including La Cigale Tabarka and a TUI Group establishment in Monastir.
His international experience also includes roles with Emaar Hospitality Group in Dubai, Crown & Champa Resorts and Coco Collection in the Maldives, as well as Kempinski Hotels in the United Arab Emirates, where he began his career as a Senior Butler during an opening. He has also worked for the Alain Ducasse Group as a Restaurant Captain, again as part of an opening team.
Aurora Tunisie, a Property Under Development in Sfax
