A new project announced in Dakar

Mangalis Hotel Group announced on 12 October that it is continuing its development in West Africa with a new project in Dakar. The group has not yet released any details and says further information will be shared very shortly.

The announcement comes as Mangalis steps up its initiatives in Senegal, now its priority market. The group currently operates seven hotels in four countries (Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea and Niger) under three brands: Noom, Seen and Yaas. Since the start of the year, it has been led by Dorethy Pesseu, appointed to head Mangalis Hotel Group after several years with the Teyliom group.

Yaas Hotel Dakar Republique, at the heart of the business district

Yaas Hotel Dakar Republique is the group’s most advanced project in Senegal. It is located on Boulevard de la République, in Dakar’s business district, between the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victories and the Presidential Palace. The hotel has 70 rooms and suites and is aimed at a mixed business and leisure clientele.

The property features a restaurant, a fitness room, a conference room and several meeting rooms. No official opening date has yet been announced.

It will be the second Yaas property in Senegal, after Yaas Hotel Almadies. In Dakar, the group also operates Noom Hotel Dakar Sea Plaza, its five-star property and a member of Radisson Individuals. A third hotel project, with 126 rooms, is also planned in Diamniadio, the new city within the Dakar metropolitan area.

Noom Residences Collection, residential living backed by the hotel

In the spring, Mangalis launched Noom Residences Collection, a limited collection of luxury villas. It is linked to Noom Hotel Dakar Sea Plaza, overlooking the Atlantic. Residents have access to the hotel’s services and a dedicated concierge, and can call on a private chef.

The concept targets investors, expatriates and long-stay travellers. It responds to growing demand for hybrid spaces that sit between private residence and hotel service.

LTH Analysis – This positioning reflects a trend seen in other markets. Luxury operators are increasingly building residential offers backed by their hotel brands, as shown by recent projects from Mandarin Oriental Exceptional Homes and Ritz Residences Madrid.

Casa del Toro, a luxury ranch on the Petite Côte

Casa del Toro is located in Nguékhokh, on the Petite Côte. Mangalis presents the concept as a first for Africa: a luxury ranch designed as an immersive destination. The offer moves away from conventional tourist circuits, featuring safaris, nature escapes and cultural explorations, with tailor-made stays and a concierge service.

The project is part of the rise of experiential tourism. The group sees it as a lever for differentiation, with the ambition of creating fully fledged worlds rather than simply places to stay.

2026, a year of acceleration

After a phase of consolidation, Mangalis aims to speed up the pace of its openings, strengthen its premium positioning and keep innovating. Senegal is set to remain the priority focus, with ongoing projects ramping up and new opportunities being identified.

The group has already demonstrated its ability to deliver large-scale projects in West Africa, as in Abidjan with the opening of Noom Hotel Abidjan Plateau. The details of the new Dakar project will show whether this acceleration is driven by urban hotels, residential or new formats.
