A partnership with Bloom Holding
Minor Hotels is developing Anantara Retreat Rabat with Bloom Holding. The Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer has a diversified portfolio spanning residential, mixed-use, hospitality, education and master-planned communities, both in the United Arab Emirates and in international markets.
Carlos Wakim, CEO of Bloom Holding, said the commercial partnership reflects Bloom’s commitment to working with leading global operators to deliver exceptional hospitality destinations. He added that Rabat represents an exciting opportunity for Bloom Holding as the company continues to grow its international portfolio in a considered and strategic way. He described the offering as one that respects the character of its surroundings while creating long-term value.
38 keys in the diplomatic district
The property will be located in Rabat’s diplomatic district, around 20 minutes from the city centre. Its architecture will combine traditional Moroccan design codes with a contemporary approach. The offering will include luxury rooms and suites as well as seven three-bedroom villas.
The positioning targets diplomatic, business and upscale leisure guests, close to the capital’s main economic and cultural hubs. In terms of dining and living spaces, the project includes a signature restaurant, a Moroccan tea lounge and a swimming pool. Meeting rooms, an Anantara Spa and a fitness area complete the offering.
With this intimate format, Minor Hotels continues the roll-out of its “Retreat” concept, already selected for Anantara Retreat Çeşme, signed on Turkey’s Aegean coast and also targeting a 2030 opening.

A first in Morocco for Minor Hotels
William E. Heinecke, Chairman and Founder of Minor International, parent company of Minor Hotels, said Morocco represents an exciting new market for Minor Hotels, and that Rabat offers a particularly compelling setting for the group’s first hotel in the country. According to him, Anantara Retreat Rabat will bring the brand’s approach to luxury hospitality to a city where heritage, culture, nature and contemporary life come together.
The founder also highlighted the ambition, shared with Bloom Holding, to create a highly intimate retreat that reflects Rabat’s character.
Rabat, a capital gaining tourism momentum
The Moroccan capital is establishing itself as a cultural and tourist destination, combining a rich heritage with a fast-growing contemporary cultural scene. Rabat is the UNESCO World Book Capital for 2026, a distinction recognising its literary and creative culture. Its location between the Atlantic Ocean and the Bou Regreg river also shapes its identity.
The city is benefiting from the continued growth of tourism in Morocco and from investment in connectivity. International tourist arrivals in the country rose by 7% over the first five months of 2026, while new international air routes are improving Rabat’s accessibility.
An Anantara pipeline focused on the Middle East and Africa
The signing is part of Minor Hotels’ ongoing expansion across the Middle East and Africa. It extends the group’s luxury portfolio into a new market, just days after work began on Anantara Siniya Island in Umm Al Quwain, developed with Sobha.
Analysis – Choosing Rabat over the Kingdom’s more established leisure destinations reflects a bet on institutional and business demand that international luxury brands have so far largely left untapped. The compact 38-key format, supported by villas, also limits capital exposure while targeting high-contributing guests – a logic comparable to recent group projects such as Anantara Jadcherla Hyderabad Resort, signed in India with Ashya Group.
