Karim Klaa, an Experienced International Hotelier at the Helm

AMÉRYS Hotel Phu Quoc is led by General Manager Karim Klaa, an established luxury hospitality professional with more than two decades of international experience spanning Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Educated at the Glion International Centre, he held positions at the Byblos hotels in Saint-Tropez and Courchevel before managing Hotel Les Ottomans in Istanbul and subsequently several properties across the Middle East and Asia.

His career later took him to IHG in the Philippines, where he was involved in the pre-opening and operation of Holiday Inn & Suites Makati, followed by YOO Hotels & Resorts in Boracay.

He also served as Hotel Manager and Acting General Manager with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in Vietnam before joining Banyan Group as General Manager in 2022.

Experienced in the pre-opening and launch phases of upscale hotels, Karim Klaa brings operational expertise particularly relevant to AMÉRYS’s positioning.

In an interview with the Vietnamese press in October 2026, he highlighted the shared vision of KNI Group and Private Palace Hotels & Resorts regarding a quality-driven, personalised approach to hospitality.

At Phu Quoc, his responsibility is to translate this ambition into a hotel experience capable of meeting the expectations of several generations while ensuring the property’s operational and commercial performance.

Three Operational Pillars for Multi-Generational Guests

Under its General Manager’s leadership, the hotel has structured its offering around three complementary components.

“Our greatest advantage is specialized care for every generation.” Karim Klaa Source

Flexible Family Accommodation

The hotel offers various room and suite categories that can be interconnected to accommodate extended families.

This flexibility is one of the property’s principal distinguishing features.

A 500 sq m Children’s Club

The Azuria Kids’ Club covers 500 sq m and is presented by the operator as the island’s largest fully air-conditioned children’s club in the luxury hotel segment.

Activities focus on creative, sensory and cultural experiences.

KNI Group also plans collaborations with Ardingly College Vietnam, a British-standard educational institution, to develop educational summer programmes.

Wellness and Services for Older Guests

The offering dedicated to older guests is supported by a partnership with Genki House, an organisation specialising in elderly care based on Japanese approaches.

Services include traditional medicine consultations and physical recovery programmes.

Les Sens Spa complements this offering with hot and cold sauna facilities, steam baths and a Japanese Ganban therapy area using heated volcanic stones.

However, the specific therapeutic benefits claimed in the hotel’s promotional materials are not supported by independently documented clinical evidence.

Dining and Services Tailored to Different Age Groups

The dining offering centres on CAYA Restaurant and its Gastronomy Gallery concept, combining Vietnamese influences with European culinary techniques.

The property provides customisable menus, including preparations adapted to the dietary requirements of older guests and children.

Additional venues include Ora Lounge, a Sports Bar and a musical tea lounge.

Phu Quoc: A Destination Supported by International Accessibility

KNI Group is also capitalising on Phu Quoc’s position as a Vietnamese resort destination with air connections to several regional markets.

Phu Quoc is also attracting major international operators, including Rixos, which is preparing a 1,500-room resort on Hon Thom.

The island benefits from a special visa exemption scheme allowing international visitors to stay for up to 30 days, subject to applicable regulatory conditions.

This accessibility provides a commercial advantage for family holidays involving several nationalities or generations.

To mark its inauguration, the hotel is offering introductory rates starting from VND 2.6 million per room per night, excluding taxes and additional charges, including breakfast and various family benefits.

La Tribune de l’Hôtellerie has recently reported on the construction of 17 hotel towers representing approximately 7,000 rooms in preparation for APEC 2027.

KNI Group Develops an Ecosystem Combining Hospitality, Education and Senior Services

Established in 2022 as an extension of Khoi Nguyen Education Group (KNE Group), which developed the Canada International School network in Ho Chi Minh City, KNI Group focuses its investments on three sectors: upscale hospitality, international education and services for older people.

Its portfolio includes AMÉRYS Hotel Phu Quoc, Ardingly College Vietnam in Lao Cai and Genki House in Ho Chi Minh City.

For Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh, Chairperson of KNI Group, the project reflects an interpretation of luxury increasingly centred on shared experiences and the quality of time spent together as a family.

Daniel Hutter, Managing Director of Private Palace Hotels, meanwhile emphasises the ambition to turn this first collaboration into a lasting relationship with the Vietnamese investor.

Strategic Analysis | Luxury Hospitality Diversifies Towards Multi-Generational Family Travel

The opening of AMÉRYS Hotel Phu Quoc illustrates an evolution in the positioning of certain upscale hotel assets in Southeast Asia.

Rather than targeting couples, individual travellers or nuclear families exclusively, KNI Group is developing a hospitality product capable of accommodating several generations within the same property, with differentiated services.

This strategy presents three potential advantages for investors and operators.

Firstly, flexible accommodation configurations allow several rooms to be sold to the same family while preserving inventory flexibility for other customer segments.

Secondly, service diversification — children’s clubs, personalised dining, spa facilities and services for older guests — may encourage ancillary spending and contribute to longer stays. However, these effects have yet to be demonstrated through the property’s commercial performance.

Thirdly, synergies between KNI Group’s different business activities represent a distinctive feature of the model. The proposed partnerships with Ardingly College Vietnam and Genki House could support an integrated offering combining accommodation, educational activities and wellness services.

For Private Palace Hotels & Resorts, the opening also represents an opportunity to expand its operational presence in the Vietnamese market, although neither the contractual management arrangements nor the performance targets have been publicly disclosed.

The positioning of AMÉRYS Hotel Phu Quoc will now need to be assessed against its ability to translate this multi-generational specialisation into occupancy levels, average daily rates and ancillary revenue.
