2027, Greece | On Mykonos, ORA Hospitality launches a new ultra-luxury brand with a €100m resort

ORA Hospitality, the hospitality arm of ORA Developers, is launching a new ultra-luxury hotel brand whose name will be revealed at a later date. The brand will make its debut in May 2027 on Mykonos with a 93-key resort representing an investment of €100 million. The launch confirms Naguib Sawiris's decision to build his own hotel signature rather than partner with an international flag.

Paris, France | Philippe Heim appointed Deputy CEO of Club Med

Fosun, owner of Club Med, has appointed Philippe Heim, former Chairman of the Management Board of La Banque Postale, as the group's Deputy CEO with effect from 8 October 2026. He will work alongside Stéphane Maquaire, Chairman and CEO since July 2025. The appointment comes as the Chinese shareholder prepares the Hong Kong IPO of ClubMed Lifestyle Group.

World | IHG: Hotel Indigo passes the 200 open hotels milestone

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of the 200th Hotel Indigo worldwide, meaning its lifestyle brand has doubled in size since 2019. With a further 134 projects in development, Hotel Indigo has established itself as one of the main growth drivers of the group's Luxury & Lifestyle segment, from the Caribbean to Saudi Arabia and China.

2028, Spain | MEININGER confirms Madrid and targets nine new hotels after a first summer in Barcelona

In early October 2026, MEININGER Hotels presented in Barcelona the results of the first months of operation at MEININGER Hotel Barcelona Fira Gran Via, its first property in Spain, together with its roadmap for the country. Madrid will open in September 2028. The Berlin-based hybrid hotel group has identified around nine further projects, representing close to 1,500 rooms, and is positioning Spain as a multi-city platform at the heart of its Southern European strategy.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates | Nicolas Adrian Gonzalez appointed General Manager of Bab Al Shams, A Rare Finds Desert Resort

Kerzner International has entrusted the general management of Bab Al Shams, its Dubai desert resort within the Rare Finds collection, to Nicolas Adrian Gonzalez. He took up his post in September 2026, joining from One&Only Palmilla in Los Cabos, where he was Hotel Manager. The appointment places at the helm of the property an executive with more than twenty years' experience who already knows the Dubai market.

Paris, France | Céline Vercollier and Franck Gervais elected co-chairs of Alliance France Tourisme

Meeting on 5 October 2026 at the Stade de France, Alliance France Tourisme handed its co-chairmanship to Céline Vercollier, Chair and CEO of B&B HOTELS, and Franck Gervais, CEO of the Pierre & Vacances-Center Parcs Group. The collective is widening its remit to events and the sports economy, and intends to make its voice heard in the 2027 presidential election debate by securing recognition of tourism as an industry in its own right.

2029, France | Covivio signs Generator to convert its Bobillot office building into a hostel in Paris’s 13th arrondissement

Covivio has signed a management agreement with Generator for an initial term of 15 years. The aim is to convert its office building on rue Bobillot, in Paris's 13th arrondissement, into a 91-room, 454-bed hostel due for delivery at the end of 2029. The operation extends the property group's programme of converting offices into hotel assets, with a target yield of around 7%.

Saudi Arabia | Dani Saleh appointed Senior Vice President, Saudi Arabia at Millennium Hotels and Resorts

Millennium Hotels and Resorts has named Dani Saleh Senior Vice President for Saudi Arabia. Cluster General Manager of Millennium & Copthorne Makkah Al Naseem since 2021, he takes charge of the largest market in the group's regional pipeline. The group is reorganising its regional leadership and investing in its portfolio, from Makkah to Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

Thailand | Absolute Hotel Services appoints four hotel leaders in Chiang Mai, Rayong and Pranburi

Absolute Hotel Services (AHS) has announced a series of appointments at the head of four of its Thai properties, from Chiang Mai to Rayong and Pranburi. Three of the roles go to executives already within the group. The Bangkok-based operator thereby confirms an internal promotion policy designed to strengthen operational leadership across its national portfolio.

Singapore | BlackRock and YTL Hotels acquire Capri by Fraser China Square for c. €229m

YTL Hotels and a private fund managed by BlackRock have acquired Capri by Fraser China Square, a 304-room hotel on the fringe of Chinatown in Singapore, from Frasers Property for around S$330 million (c. €229m). Under new management since 1 October, the property will become Hotel Stripes Singapore Chinatown, part of Marriott International's Autograph Collection. The deal is the latest in a series of Singapore hotel transactions valued at around S$1 million per key.

Mariánské Lázně, Czech Republic | Philippe Mahuas appointed General Manager of Swissôtel Mariánské Lázně

In September 2026, Philippe Mahuas took over as General Manager of Swissôtel Mariánské Lázně, the Accor brand's first property in the Czech Republic. After seven years at the helm of Verdi Budapest Aquincum and two pre-openings led in Central Asia, the Saint-Nazaire-trained Frenchman returns to a country where he spent almost a decade of his career.

Andermatt, Switzerland | Toan Ly appointed Chief Commercial Officer of Andermatt Hospitality Management

Andermatt Hospitality Management has entrusted Toan Ly with responsibility for its group-wide commercial strategy, effective 1 November 2026. A former member of The Chedi Andermatt's opening team, he returns to the Uri resort after leading the commercial transformation of Six Senses Crans-Montana. His mission: to support revenue growth and establish Andermatt as a four-season destination.
