The scope of the group comprises 57 properties across 26 countries, with more than 30 additional properties under development.

In his new role, Albin Chavy will contribute to the operational planning of hotel projects, ensuring alignment between architectural ambitions, technical constraints and the requirements of the teams responsible for running the properties.

He also thanked Trish Luyckx and Stéphane Foucher for their confidence following his appointment.

Connecting hotel design with future operations

Operational Planning plays a decisive role in hotel development: translating architectural intentions into spaces that can function effectively in practice.

At the intersection of ergonomics, hospitality engineering and architectural design, Operational Planning comes into play at a critical stage of a property’s development, when architects’ concepts must be assessed against the practical realities of hotel operations.

The objective is to anticipate the organisation of workspaces, circulation routes, logistical flows, equipment requirements and the day-to-day constraints faced by operational teams. These considerations can then be incorporated into the original design rather than requiring costly corrections after opening.

In ultra-luxury hospitality, such decisions are particularly sensitive.

Guests’ perception of quality often depends on the ability of teams to deliver seamless, personalised and discreet service. This requires carefully designed guest-facing spaces as well as appropriate technical and back-of-house infrastructure.

Albin Chavy’s responsibilities sit precisely at this intersection of design, development and operations, with an approach that also takes account of each destination’s individual identity.

Seven years at Compass Group supporting projects across Asia-Pacific

Before joining Rosewood, Albin Chavy spent more than seven years with Compass Group, primarily based in Singapore.

From September 2024 to September 2026, he served as Regional Director, Business Excellence – Asia Pacific.

His responsibilities notably included improving the operational performance of Google‘s foodservice facilities, with a focus on user experience, organisational efficiency and cost control.

His work also covered data utilisation, service quality and the alignment of global standards with local execution.

Previously, from January 2023 to September 2024, he held the position of Regional Director, F&B Design – Asia Pacific.

Working within Google’s Real Estate and Workplace Services teams, he contributed to the design and development of foodservice spaces, from initial concept definition through to operational implementation.

His responsibilities included stakeholder coordination, design standards, sustainability, technical requirements and capital expenditure planning.

This experience enabled him to develop an approach combining functional design, financial performance and user experience.

Technical expertise developed through international hospitality projects

Albin Chavy‘s career also includes several years specialising in the design of foodservice facilities and professional kitchens.

Between 2017 and 2019, he worked at MTD Hospitality Consulting in Melbourne as Senior F&B Design Manager – Australia & New Zealand.

There, he contributed to hotel, resort, convention centre and other foodservice infrastructure projects.

His professional profile notably references involvement in projects associated with W Melbourne, Crowne Plaza Hobart, Hotel Indigo Melbourne and properties operating under the Tribe brand.

Earlier, between 2010 and 2012, he worked with France Kitchen on projects in Africa and the Middle East, including properties associated with the InterContinental and Radisson brands.

He began his professional career in culinary and foodservice operations, gaining experience in both France and the United Kingdom.

This first-hand understanding of how kitchens, production areas and service organisations function is a distinguishing feature of his professional background.

From professional kitchens to global operational planning

Albin Chavy’s career is distinguished by a progression from frontline hospitality operations to technical design, followed by regional and international leadership responsibilities.

He notably undertook training in foodservice engineering at the Institut des RestauConcepteurs, complemented by studies in digital architecture and construction project management.

In 2018, he obtained a certificate in Construction Project Management from Columbia University through an online programme.

This combination of operational and technical expertise reflects the increasingly complex requirements facing international hotel groups, which must reconcile architectural individuality, capital expenditure control and operational efficiency.

LTH Analysis | In ultra-luxury hospitality, design must also support operational performance

Albin Chavy’s appointment illustrates the growing importance of operational planning in upscale hotel development.

A successful architectural project does not, in itself, guarantee a high-performing hotel. Spatial layouts, logistical routes, technical installations and working conditions directly influence operating costs and service quality.

For a group such as Rosewood, whose positioning is built around experiences deeply rooted in their destinations, the challenge is to preserve each project’s individuality while incorporating operational requirements from the earliest design stages.

Operational Planning is therefore becoming a value-creation function: it helps minimise costly post-opening modifications and improve asset efficiency throughout a property’s operational life.

Albin Chavy’s background, combining foodservice operations, engineering, design and operational excellence, is particularly well aligned with these responsibilities.
