Clinique La Prairie, the Swiss institution founded in Montreux in 1931, is continuing its international development with the planned opening of its first health resort in Southeast Asia, in Phuket in November 2026. Developed in partnership with Montara Hospitality Group within the Tri Vananda project, the property will feature 40 private villas and specialised medical facilities. A further opening is planned for 2027 at AMAALA in Saudi Arabia, reinforcing the brand's development strategy in the longevity and medical wellness market.

Phuket: a first destination in Southeast Asia

Clinique La Prairie is preparing to open its new Thai property, Clinique La Prairie Phuket, in November 2026.

The resort will be located within Tri Vananda, a wellness-focused real estate and tourism development set in tropical surroundings on the island of Phuket.

The project is being developed in partnership with Montara Hospitality Group, the Thai hospitality group also associated with the luxury resort Trisara.

For Clinique La Prairie, this development represents another stage in the international expansion of a model established nearly a century ago in Montreux, combining preventive medicine, nutrition, physical activity and personalised support.

Unlike a conventional wellness resort, the property intends to place medical assessments and longevity programmes at the centre of the guest experience.

Forty private villas and specialised medical facilities

The new property will comprise 40 individual villas, each with a private swimming pool.

Three accommodation categories have been announced: Signature Villas measuring 120 sq m, Grandiose Villas measuring 160 sq m and Royal Villas measuring 400 sq m.

The resort will include consultation rooms, medical facilities and equipment for diagnostic examinations.

Additional facilities will comprise a 50-metre swimming pool, a fitness centre developed in collaboration with Technogym, a spa and a restaurant named SEEDS, whose culinary offering will be structured around Clinique La Prairie’s nutritional principles.

Gardens, natural spaces and facilities dedicated to physical activity and recovery will complete the development.

Located approximately twenty minutes from Phuket International Airport, the property will seek to combine the privacy of high-end residential accommodation with integrated medical and hospitality services.

Stays structured around prevention and longevity

The offering will be based on Clinique La Prairie’s longevity methodology, organised around four pillars: medicine, nutrition, movement and wellbeing.

Stays will begin with an individual medical assessment designed to guide the selection of services and programmes.

The group particularly highlights a diagnostic approach involving the analysis of more than 300 biomarkers.

Four principal programmes will be offered as stays of at least six nights: Reverse Ageing, Vitality Essence, Master Detox and Life Reset.

These programmes will address different objectives relating to prevention, vitality, metabolic balance and recovery.

Two shorter options, focusing on an introduction to the methodology and health assessment, will complement the offering.

This structure distinguishes Clinique La Prairie’s model from conventional wellness resorts: the length of stay and hospitality services are determined by a specialised programme rather than solely by the expectations of leisure guests.

The medical benefits promoted by the operator remain programme objectives and do not constitute guaranteed clinical outcomes.

Montara Hospitality, the partner behind the Thai development

Clinique La Prairie’s presence within Tri Vananda is based on a collaboration with Montara Hospitality Group, a Thai company specialising in luxury hospitality development and operations.

For Montara, the partnership forms part of a diversification strategy into health and wellness activities alongside its existing hotel operations.

Saudi Arabia: a further opening planned at AMAALA in 2027

Following Phuket, Clinique La Prairie is planning another opening in Saudi Arabia in 2027, with the Clinique La Prairie Health Resort AMAALA, located within Triple Bay on the Red Sea coast.

The project forms part of the development of AMAALA, a tourism and residential destination focused particularly on luxury hospitality, wellness and leisure activities.

The property will offer a combination of preventive medicine, longevity programmes, nutrition, physical activity and personalised support, following the principles developed by the Swiss brand.

The real estate development will also include 13 private residences, comprising six two-bedroom villas measuring 470 sq m, five three-bedroom villas measuring 553 sq m and two four-bedroom villas measuring 764 sq m.

Designed by John Heah, these residences will draw inspiration from the traditional architecture of the Arabian Peninsula and will be integrated into a landscaped environment featuring gardens, wellness spaces and access to the resort’s facilities.

The development will therefore combine two complementary components: a property specialising in health and longevity, and a luxury residential offering benefiting from proximity to the brand’s services and facilities.

This development has a particular real estate dimension, as branded residences can constitute a product distinct from the hotel operation itself.

With Phuket in 2026 followed by AMAALA in 2027, Clinique La Prairie intends to strengthen its presence in two tourism markets where investment in wellness, preventive healthcare and luxury hospitality is playing an increasingly important role.

LTH Analysis | Medical longevity as a new hospitality and real estate development model

The Phuket and AMAALA projects illustrate an evolution in Clinique La Prairie’s positioning.

Historically associated with its property in Montreux, the brand is now developing international destinations that combine its medical expertise with high-end hospitality and real estate projects.

This strategy comes amid the expansion of wellness tourism and growing demand for services associated with prevention and longevity.

According to estimates from the Global Wellness Institute, the global wellness economy was worth approximately US$6.8 trillion in 2024 and could approach US$9.8 trillion by 2029.

However, these figures relate to the entire wellness economy, not exclusively to the medical resort segment.

For hotel investors and owners, this model presents several distinctive characteristics.

The first concerns capital intensity. Unlike a traditional hotel, a medical wellness resort requires diagnostic equipment, specialised facilities and spaces designed for individualised care.

The second relates to operational structure. Operations require hospitality, medical, nutritional and fitness expertise simultaneously, increasing organisational complexity and staffing costs.

The third concerns the length and nature of stays. In Phuket, the principal programmes require a minimum stay of six nights, with sales structured around the overall programme rather than room accommodation alone.

Finally, the AMAALA project introduces an additional dimension: the combination of a medical wellness resort and branded residences.

This model could generate several revenue streams around a single operator, depending on the commercial arrangements for the residences, management agreements and access to services.

Nevertheless, the two projects have distinct configurations.

In Phuket, the 40-villa resort represents an accommodation product directly linked to health programmes.

At AMAALA, the 13 private residences form part of a wider real estate development located close to a medical wellness property.

This distinction will be essential when assessing their respective business models.

Neither the investment amounts, the prices of the programmes nor the projected operating performance figures have been disclosed at this stage.

These figures will be necessary to assess the potential profitability of properties whose operating costs and technical requirements differ significantly from those of traditional luxury hotels.

Beyond these questions, Clinique La Prairie’s international development reflects a transformation in high-end hospitality: health and longevity are no longer merely supplementary services but can become the very foundation of a hotel’s concept and real estate positioning.

The planned opening in Phuket in November 2026, followed by AMAALA in 2027, will provide an opportunity to observe how this model is implemented in two markets with different tourism and real estate characteristics.
