Wyndham Rewards expands beyond traditional hotels
On 29 October 2026, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts announced the launch of Homes & Havens, a new collection of holiday residences integrated into its Wyndham Rewards loyalty programme.
Available from launch, the platform offers nearly 800 homes and villas across the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe.
The collection is expected to expand gradually with several hundred additional properties, including cabins, tiny homes and yurts.
The initiative enables Wyndham to extend its accommodation offering to stays that do not necessarily fit the traditional hotel format, particularly family holidays and group travel.
According to a Phocuswright study cited by Wyndham, approximately 30% of US leisure travellers stayed in a short-term rental during their most recent trip.
A model built around independent property management partners
Homes & Havens operates through agreements with specialist professional holiday rental management companies.
Initial partners include Brightwild, Simpson Travel, StayTerra and Thousand Trails.
This structure allows Wyndham to offer a diversified residential accommodation portfolio without announcing the acquisition or direct ownership of the properties concerned.
The collection includes pool villas in the Florida Keys, mountain residences in the Rocky Mountains, properties along the Carolina coast, villas in Saint Barthélemy and accommodation on the Mediterranean coastline.
The objective is to broaden the range of stays available to Wyndham Rewards members while maintaining a selection of professionally managed properties.
Wyndham Rewards points can now be used for holiday rentals
One of the main features of Homes & Havens is its integration into the loyalty programme.
Members can now earn five Wyndham Rewards points for every eligible US dollar spent on qualifying bookings.
Eligible nights also count towards progression to higher membership tiers.
Members can also redeem their points to book selected properties within the collection.
Redemption rates start at 15,000 points per bedroom, per night, with additional tiers of 30,000 and 45,000 points.
A 5,000-point tier is being considered as the offering expands.
Bookings made using points currently require members to contact the member services team at least 60 days in advance.
Points redemptions cover only the base accommodation rate, excluding taxes, cleaning charges and other mandatory fees. Not all properties are necessarily eligible.
Wyndham strengthens the value of its loyalty ecosystem
With approximately 129 million enrolled members, Wyndham Rewards represents a significant commercial asset for the group.
According to Michael Shiwdin, Group Vice President, Integrated Marketing, Loyalty and Digital at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the objective is to offer members more accommodation options and opportunities to use their points, depending on the nature of their trips.
Homes & Havens complements several initiatives already introduced around the loyalty programme.
These include Wyndham Rewards Insider, a subscription offering providing access to various travel-related benefits, and Wyndham Rewards Experiences, which allows members to redeem points for sporting, musical and cultural events.
This development forms part of a strategy to strengthen customer relationships beyond hotel stays alone.
LTH Analysis | Loyalty becomes a driver of accommodation diversification
The introduction of Homes & Havens illustrates an important shift in the strategy of major hotel groups: loyalty programmes are gradually becoming platforms providing access to multiple forms of accommodation.
For Wyndham, the strategic objective goes beyond adding several hundred residential properties to its catalogue.
The group is seeking to retain members within its commercial ecosystem, including when their accommodation needs lead them towards larger properties or experiences that differ from traditional hotel stays.
This strategy offers several potential advantages.
First, it increases the opportunities for members to use the loyalty programme, potentially strengthening engagement.
Second, it enables Wyndham to diversify its accommodation offering without necessarily replicating the property investment requirements or operating structures of conventional hotels.
Finally, it creates distribution opportunities for independent holiday rental managers, giving them access to an internationally established loyalty customer base.
However, the model depends on Wyndham’s ability to maintain consistent service quality across standardised hotel properties and highly diverse residential accommodation.
The availability of points-based bookings, additional charges and consistency of the guest experience will also be determining factors in the adoption of the new offering.
With Homes & Havens, Wyndham is no longer seeking to build customer loyalty exclusively through its hotels: the group is extending the reach of Wyndham Rewards into other segments of the accommodation market.
This evolution confirms the strategic importance of loyalty programmes in the competition between hotel groups and booking platforms.
