2028, United States | MGallery signs Ink 48, its future New York flagship

MGallery Collection, Accor's boutique hotel collection, is coming to New York with the signing of Ink 48. The 222-room lifestyle hotel in Hell's Kitchen, overlooking the Hudson River, is owned by Leyad and asset-managed by Capstone Equities. Following a renovation programme, it will become the brand's flagship hotel in the United States in 2028, one of its top five markets worldwide.

An established address on Manhattan’s West Side

Located in Hell’s Kitchen on Manhattan’s West Side, Ink 48 sits a short walk from the Hudson River, close to Times Square, Hudson Yards and Broadway. The lifestyle hotel is known for its open views over the New York skyline and the river.

The property has 222 rooms, including 17 suites and a signature penthouse suite offering a volume of space rarely found in Manhattan. The ground floor houses the Hudson Local restaurant, while the Hudson VU rooftop bar overlooks the city. The hotel also offers around 560 m² of meeting and event space spread across several rooms, as well as a fitness centre.

Originally conceived as a contemporary urban retreat, Ink 48 combines industrial-inspired interior architecture with panoramic river views. This positioning is in keeping with the MGallery philosophy of bringing together characterful hotels rooted in the culture of their destination, as illustrated recently by the brand’s initiative around the 2026 European Heritage Days.

A gradual transition through to 2028

The signing does not bring an immediate change of flag. The hotel will first undergo a phased renovation incorporating MGallery’s hallmarks, upscale design features and immersive guest experiences.

During the works, Ink 48 will continue to operate as an independent hotel to ensure business continuity. It will officially join MGallery Collection in 2028 under the name Ink 48 New York City – MGallery Collection.

Leyad and Capstone Equities alongside Accor

The project brings together Accor and two New York players. Capstone Equities is a real estate investment and development company whose portfolio spans hospitality and commercial property. Leyad is represented by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Henry Zavriyev.

Henry Zavriyev explains that Leyad takes a long-term view of the assets it holds, and that Ink 48 has always shown the fundamentals needed to justify that approach. He describes bringing the hotel into a collection such as MGallery as a natural evolution, adding that having Capstone and Accor as partners gives the owner full confidence in how the project will be delivered.

For Andrés Ramirez, head of asset management at Capstone Equities, the property has long been recognised as a one-of-a-kind destination in Manhattan’s hotel landscape, and the partners share the same ambition: to strengthen its positioning while preserving the authenticity and distinctiveness that guests value.

The United States, a priority market for MGallery

For Accor, the signing strengthens the development of its luxury portfolio in North America. It follows the addition of Hotel Ändra Seattle – MGallery Collection. The United States already ranks among the brand’s top five markets worldwide.

Maud Bailly, CEO Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery & Emblems, describes New York as one of the most influential tourist destinations in the world and the arrival of Ink 48 in MGallery Collection as a major step forward for the brand in North America, noting that the hotel already enjoys a strong identity and a prime location. As MGallery’s flagship in the United States, she adds, Ink 48 will play an important role in raising the brand’s profile.

Analysis – The choice of New York reflects a long-standing strategic direction for the group. In 2022, Accor decided to focus its North American efforts on its luxury and lifestyle brands, at a time when its US footprint remained modest compared with the competition. Taking over an established asset with an existing clientele allows the group to enter a highly competitive market without going through new-build development.

More than 50 projects in the global pipeline

The brand now brings together more than 125 hotels worldwide and draws on Accor’s distribution platform and the ALL loyalty programme. It has more than 50 projects in development and plans 9 openings by the end of 2026.

Recent and upcoming openings include Kove Hotel & Spa Mykonos, Bel Hôtel Oléron Thalasso & Spa, V Villas Maldives at Mirihi and Nirema Hotel & Spa Samos. In France, the brand has also announced its first five-star Alpine hotel in Valmorel.
