A fourth Caribbean destination

The hotel group Aman, led by Vlad Doronin, has announced its arrival in Puerto Rico with Amantaru, which will become its fourth destination in the Caribbean.

The project will combine a luxury hotel with a collection of branded residences, set in an unspoilt coastal environment in Cabo Rojo, in the south-west of the island.

Amantaru will form part of Esencia, a private community of more than 800 hectares developed by Three Rules Capital in partnership with Reuben Brothers. Set on a hillside, the site will overlook a beach and border a protected nature reserve.

The project reflects Aman’s development strategy, which brings together high-value hotel properties, upscale residential real estate and destinations offering a high degree of privacy.

Architecture entrusted to Marwan Al-Sayed

The architectural design of Amantaru has been entrusted to Marwan Al-Sayed, founder of MASASTUDIO, marking his second collaboration with Aman after Amangiri in Utah.

The project will draw its inspiration from Puerto Rico’s historic fortifications and the island’s coastal landscapes. It will favour natural regional materials, open spaces and ocean views.

The branded residences, also designed by MASASTUDIO, will range from three to eight bedrooms. They will offer seamless indoor-outdoor living, with privileged access to the hotel’s services and amenities.

Leisure and wellness offering integrated into Esencia

Amantaru will feature an Aman Spa, a wellness centre, a beach club, racquet sports courts and several dining venues.

Residents and guests will also be able to enjoy the facilities developed across Esencia, including two championship golf courses, private clubs dedicated to equestrian, water and sporting activities, and several kilometres of trails.

The proximity of a private airport, with facilities suited to business aviation, will further strengthen the project’s appeal to a wealthy international clientele.

Aman strengthens its real estate strategy in the Americas

For Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman Group, this new destination responds to growing demand for places that combine privacy, personalised service and integration with their natural surroundings.

He notably highlighted the strategic value of offering, for the first time in Puerto Rico, a proposition combining Aman hospitality with branded residences.

Amantaru adds to the group’s development pipeline in the Americas, which includes Amanvari in Los Cabos, Aman Miami Beach, Aman Beverly Hills and Amancaya in the Exuma islands of the Bahamas.

The opening timeline, the hotel’s room count, the number of residences and the investment amount were not disclosed in the information released.

Over $2 billion in total investment for Esencia

The announcement of Amantaru follows the approval granted in summer 2026 to the Esencia project, which represents more than $2 billion in announced private investment.

Alongside Aman, the programme also includes Mandarin Oriental and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. According to the developers, around 75% of the estate’s land area will be dedicated to green spaces and conservation.

This multi-brand positioning underlines Esencia’s ambition to become an integrated luxury hospitality and residential destination, bringing together several international operators.
