An executive with a commercial and marketing background

Michelle Davies brings more than fifteen years of experience in commercial, marketing and leadership roles, with an international career spanning Australia, the United Kingdom and Asia-Pacific.

She initially joined Club Med in London in April 2013 as Marketing Executive, before being promoted to Senior PR, Content and Promotions Executive in January 2016 and subsequently Marketing Manager in January 2018.

In the latter role, she oversaw marketing strategies across three international markets, managing an annual budget of £3 million and a team of eight employees covering B2B and B2C activities.

Following a period at My Muscle Chef, an Australian food company, where she held responsibilities in digital marketing, CRM and brand strategy, she returned to Club Med in July 2020 as Head of Marketing.

She was subsequently promoted to General Manager Pacific Markets in July 2021, with responsibility for restoring the group’s commercial performance following two particularly challenging years for international tourism.

Her remit at that time covered a business generating more than €70 million in annual revenue and a team of over twenty employees.

In June 2025, her responsibilities were expanded to include emerging markets across the ESAP region, notably Thailand, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Brunei, Myanmar and Cambodia.

Club Med Borneo and Cherating among the priorities for 2027

In her new role, Michelle Davies will be responsible for consolidating Club Med’s commercial presence in Singapore and Malaysia while supporting the development of several regional source markets.

Two projects feature among her priorities for 2027.

The first is the opening of Club Med Borneo in the Malaysian state of Sabah, which is expected to strengthen the group’s presence in Southeast Asia.

The second involves the continued refurbishment of Club Med Cherating, also located in Malaysia.

These projects form part of Club Med’s upmarket strategy and its ambition to strengthen its appeal among regional and international guests.

An international career spanning marketing and general management

Before taking on her responsibilities at Club Med, Michelle Davies began her career in marketing and events at Westfield in Australia between 2009 and 2012.

She graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Business specialising in marketing and advertising. She also completed training in content strategy at the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing in the United Kingdom.

Her professional progression is characterised by a transition from specialist marketing positions to responsibility for international markets, with a strong emphasis on commercial development, distribution and performance management.

LTH Analysis | Source markets at the heart of Club Med’s Asian strategy

The appointment of Michelle Davies illustrates the importance Club Med places on managing its source markets alongside the development of its resort portfolio.

The decision to appoint an executive with a marketing and commercial background, who has already helped restore performance across a major geographical region, reflects an ambition to bring distribution strategy, customer development and the upmarket positioning of its offering closer together.

The planned opening of Club Med Borneo and the investment in Cherating represent two major operational priorities for the brand in Malaysia.

Beyond these projects, the new regional organisation is intended to enable Club Med to capture growth in intra-Asian tourism flows and strengthen its commercial presence across markets at different stages of maturity.
