A private island location within easy reach of Singapore

The future Hyatt Regency Kapal Besar Island Resort will be located on Pulau Kapal Besar, a private island near Batam, Indonesia.

Guests will reach the property via Nirup Island, which has an immigration checkpoint, followed by a short ferry transfer. According to the partners, the journey from HarbourFront in Singapore is expected to take approximately 50 minutes.

This location will enable the future resort to target regional and international leisure travellers, particularly those from Singapore and Indonesia’s major cities.

A 140-key resort focused on leisure and events

The development will comprise 140 rooms and suites, alongside a range of facilities including a spa, fitness centre, outdoor swimming pools and a Camp Hyatt children’s club with indoor and outdoor spaces.

The property will also feature an entertainment centre and is designed to accommodate family holidays as well as weddings, celebrations and group events.

The resort’s design will draw on the island’s natural features, including its lake, mangroves and coastal surroundings.

A partnership supporting a multi-island development strategy

For PT Citra Buana Prakarsa, the agreement forms part of a broader tourism development strategy across the archipelago.

The company, which already has a presence on Nirup Island, is also considering developing the neighbouring islands of Pulau Layang and Pulau Kapal Kecil.

Tommy Ho, Director of Business Development at PT Citra Buana Prakarsa, emphasised that the partnership with Hyatt is intended to strengthen the international appeal of these island destinations while generating economic benefits for local communities.

For his part, Bastien Touzeau, Regional Vice President – Growth, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines at Hyatt, highlighted the combination of natural surroundings and accessibility from Singapore as one of the project’s principal advantages.

Hyatt continues its expansion in Indonesia

The signing strengthens the US hotel group’s presence in Indonesia and extends the geographical footprint of its Hyatt Regency brand.

As at 30 September 2026, Hyatt Hotels Corporation had more than 1,500 hotels and all-inclusive properties across 84 countries on six continents.

The Hyatt Regency brand, meanwhile, was represented in more than 245 destinations across over 50 countries.

Hyatt Regency Kapal Besar Island Resort is scheduled to open in 2031, subject to the development progressing according to plan.
