Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts announces the appointment of Thomas Prenneis as General Manager of the Steigenberger Hotel & Spa Krems, in the heart of the Wachau. This professional brings more than three decades of experience in international hospitality, with recognised expertise in hotel operations, culinary concepts and strategic development.
Thomas Prenneis previously held the position of Director of the Parkhotel Hagenberg, as well as Director of the Auszeit Hotel St. Lambrecht and Commercial Director of its associated rehabilitation centre. His career has also included leadership roles at several properties in Austria, including the Hotel am Kaiserstrand, the Falkensteiner Therme Golf Hotel Bad Waltersdorf and the Loisium Wine Spa Resorts, as well as General Manager of Eurothermen Holding Oberösterreich.
A certified sommelier, Thomas Prenneis built a significant part of his career within Marriott International, where he notably held the roles of Director of F&B at the Imperial Riding School Vienna, Executive Chef in charge of F&B at the Marriott Lisbon, as well as several positions as executive chef and director of food and beverage operations during the opening of the Marriott Santiago in Chile.
Located at the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage-listed vineyard, the Steigenberger Hotel & Spa Krems positions itself at the crossroads of wellness, longevity, leisure, gastronomy and business events. Thomas Prenneis intends to draw on these strengths to continue developing the property alongside his team. He holds an MBA in Sales and Marketing and a degree in business economics.
