The Lanserhof Group has confirmed the appointment of Michael Braun as Director of Lanserhof Tegernsee, in Bavaria, effective from 1 June 2026. He succeeds Torsten Kiener, who had held the position for several years.

Lanserhof Group, in brief

Founded more than forty years ago, the Lanserhof Group is a European operator of upscale health resorts specialising in preventive medicine, regeneration and longevity. Its approach, the Lanserhof Concept, combines personalised fasting programmes, advanced medical diagnostics and bespoke therapeutic solutions, overseen by a multidisciplinary team.

The founding and leadership trio comprises Christian Harisch, Stefan Rutter and Anton Pletzer, who are the group’s majority shareholders. Lanserhof Group operates three properties directly: Lanserhof Lans, in Austria, along with Lanserhof Tegernsee and Lanserhof Sylt, in Germany. A fourth site is under development near Marbella, Spain, with an opening planned for 2027. The group is also present in London, through a partnership with The Arts Club, as well as in Hamburg, with Lans Medicum and Lans Physio.

In October 2025, Lanserhof Group secured a strategic investment of €95 million led by AltamarCAM Partners, alongside King Street Capital Management and investor Manuel Puig, to support its international development and future openings through to 2030.

A career spanning more than 25 years in international luxury hospitality

Michael Braun brings more than twenty-five years of experience in premium hospitality. His career has been built within leading international groups, including Hilton, Hyatt and Kempinski, with positions held in Germany, Switzerland, France, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Turkey.

His career began with hotel management training at the Ringhotel Mohren, in Ochsenhausen, between 1994 and 1997. He went on to the Hilton Munich City, before joining the Grand Hyatt Berlin in 2002 as Bankettmanager, a role he held for two years. He also gained further experience through pre-opening assignments, notably at the Park Hyatt Paris Vendôme in 2002 and the Park Hyatt Zurich in 2004.

A rise through international food and beverage leadership

From 2006, Michael Braun specialised in food and beverage management within the Hyatt group in the Middle East. He successively held the roles of Assistant Director and then F&B Director at the Hyatt Regency Dubai & Galleria, before taking charge of F&B at the Grand Hyatt Doha between 2008 and 2011.

He then joined the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Villas as Executive Assistant Manager in charge of F&B, followed by the Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul, where he served as F&B Director from 2012 to 2014. This period in the Middle East and Turkey consolidated his expertise in food and beverage operations within internationally-focused luxury properties.

A return to Germany and full hotel leadership responsibilities

Michael Braun returned to Germany in 2014 to take full hotel leadership of the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, on the Tegernsee, a property recognised by the Michelin Guide. He held this position until 2018, before a stint at the Althoff Hotel am Schlossgarten, in Stuttgart, and then at the AMERON Neuschwanstein Alpsee Resort & Spa.

He returned to the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt in 2020 as Hotel Manager, a role he held for more than six years until his appointment to Lanserhof Tegernsee. This dual tenure at the helm of the property has given him an in-depth understanding of the clientele and hospitality market in the Tegernsee region.

An appointment aligned with the group’s development

The appointment comes as the Lanserhof Group continues a phase of sustained development. The group had secured a €95 million investment in October 2025, led by AltamarCAM Partners and King Street Capital Management, intended to support its international growth and the development of a fourth site, currently under construction near Marbella, Spain.
