A strategic appointment for Hyatt’s regional growth

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the appointment of Guido Fredrich as Vice President of Development for its Luxury and Lifestyle business across the EAME region. In his new role, Fredrich will be responsible for driving growth across the group’s Luxury and Lifestyle portfolios throughout the region.

He takes up the position at what the group describes as a pivotal time for its regional expansion, as Hyatt continues to strengthen its presence in culturally rich cities and iconic leisure destinations across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

A regional pipeline gathering momentum

Recent openings include Andaz Lisbon and Miraval the Red Sea, while Thompson Seville, Thompson Rome and The Standard Lisbon are expected to open before the end of 2026. This pace of openings forms part of wider development across the region, where Hyatt recently confirmed a sustained pipeline of fourteen hotels opened or expected in 2026 across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

This momentum also builds on a long-standing strategy in the lifestyle segment, with the group having stated its intention to expand its lifestyle portfolio in the region by 30% by 2027.

A career built between hotel development and asset strategy

Guido Fredrich brings more than fifteen years of international experience in hotel development and real estate. He previously held a senior development role at Hyatt, where he oversaw the rollout of several of the group’s brands across more than fifteen markets. This earlier stint came during a period in which Hyatt reshaped its EAME regional leadership through several key appointments.

Before joining Hyatt, Fredrich was Director of Development at Corinthia Hotels, where he led the brand’s international growth, overseeing its strategic expansion into several markets and the development of its luxury positioning. The Maltese group, which recently entered Rome with a neoclassical palazzo on the Piazza del Parlamento, has continued to pursue sustained international expansion since. Before that, Fredrich served as Head of Asset Strategy at Signa.

Felicity Black Roberts, Senior Vice President of Development for EAME at Hyatt, welcomed the appointment: “Guido’s appointment reflects our commitment to continued, thoughtful regional growth. His experience in identifying strategic opportunities in markets where our brands stand out will be a valuable asset to our team.”

She also highlighted the resilience of demand in the upscale segment: “Despite macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty, demand for high-quality hotels remains remarkably resilient. Travellers are increasingly discerning and are gravitating towards hotels that offer distinctive experiences. That plays directly to Hyatt’s strength: a portfolio of brands with genuinely different personalities, each designed to meet a particular type of stay.”

For his part, Guido Fredrich expressed his enthusiasm: “I am delighted to be joining Hyatt at such an exciting time for the group. Having worked with many of its brands over the years, I know the strength of its portfolio as well as the opportunities that exist in the region. I look forward to working with our owners and partners to grow our Luxury and Lifestyle presence thoughtfully, bringing the right brands to the right locations and creating exceptional hotels together.”

A 14-brand portfolio across the EAME region

Hyatt’s Luxury and Lifestyle portfolios now comprise 14 brands, representing more than 70 hotels and 11,000 rooms across the EAME region. Globally, the Chicago-headquartered group had more than 1,500 hotels and properties in 83 countries across six continents as of 30 June 2026.

United States | Goldman Sachs commits €351M to physical real estate with LCN Capital Partners acquisition

The Goldman Sachs Group announced on 18 August 2026 the acquisition of LCN Capital Partners, a platform specialising in sale & leaseback transactions, for a consideration of up to €351M ($410M). The deal gives Goldman Sachs Asset Management a specific area of expertise - the resale of corporate real estate while preserving its use through a long-term lease - after two years marked by high interest rates that curbed investment in physical real estate. For the hospitality sector, the acquisition is also a reminder that LCN held exclusive talks in 2025 to buy nine Silken hotels in Spain, before ultimately being outbid by Hotusa.
