A first general manager role within the Hyatt portfolio
Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa has confirmed the appointment of Patrick Krauth as General Manager. He took up the post in October 2026, after a career of more than twenty years in international luxury hospitality, almost all of it with Hyatt.
This is his first general manager position. He was previously Resort Manager of Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica, another of the group’s properties.
In its announcement, the resort highlighted his experience in designing guest experiences and his affinity for destinations defined by their natural setting and authenticity. According to the property, these qualities make him a natural ambassador for its “Our Living Island” philosophy.
Working with the existing teams, Patrick Krauth is expected to build on the work already under way around guest relations and the exploration of the coral reef that encircles the island through 360 degrees, which the resort describes as one of the richest ecosystems in the Maldives.
Berlin, Washington, Chicago: the foundations of a career
German-trained, Patrick Krauth attended the vocational schools of Buxtehude, where in 1999 he followed a course in nutrition and management, and then the Brillat-Savarin School, a training centre for the hotel and restaurant trades. His academic background also includes Cornell University.
His career began in 2000 with an apprenticeship at Grand Hyatt Berlin. He remained there until January 2005, first in the restaurant and then as team leader of the Tizian restaurant.
He then moved to the United States and the Park Hyatt network. At Park Hyatt Washington DC, he served successively as Assistant Food & Beverage Manager, head of In-Room Dining and then Restaurant Manager of Blue Duck Tavern. Between these two periods, he spent time at Park Hyatt Chicago as Assistant Restaurant Manager of the NoMI restaurant.
A Four Seasons interlude, then Latin America and the Gulf
In 2007, he joined Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica, where he ran the Caracol restaurant and then the Papagayo restaurant until 2010. He subsequently returned to Hyatt in Argentina as Banquet Manager of Palacio Duhau – Park Hyatt Buenos Aires.
In 2012, he moved to Abu Dhabi as Assistant Director of Food & Beverage at Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Villas, a role he held until the end of 2014.
Seven years leading food & beverage at two Park Hyatts
Patrick Krauth then became Director of Food & Beverage at Park Hyatt Sydney, from December 2014 to January 2018. He went on to hold the same responsibility at Park Hyatt Busan, in South Korea, for four years.
This period of more than seven years at the helm of food and beverage operations at two of the brand’s properties forms the bedrock of his expertise, ahead of his move into broader management roles.
Amman, then Papagayo: learning the ropes of operational leadership
In February 2022, he was appointed Executive Assistant Manager of Grand Hyatt Amman, in Jordan. In June 2023 he joined Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort, first as Executive Assistant Manager Food & Beverage, then as Resort Manager from July 2024.
That role took him back to the Papagayo Peninsula, where he had worked for Four Seasons some fifteen years earlier.
Analysis – Patrick Krauth‘s career illustrates a well-established path within the major hotel groups, in which food & beverage serves as a stepping stone to general management. His appointment follows other recent internal promotions at Hyatt, such as that of Dominik Strobel, named General Manager of Andaz Doha after nearly twenty years with the group. His recent experience of running a beach resort is also a direct asset for managing a remote island property.
Hadahaa, Hyatt’s original address in the Maldives
Located on the island of Hadahaa in Huvadhoo Atoll (Gaafu Alifu), the resort opened in late 2009 as Alila Villas Hadahaa, before coming under Hyatt management on 1 April 2011. It thus became the group’s first hotel in the Maldives.
The property comprises 51 villas, the Vidhun Spa and a PADI Five Star-certified dive centre, Blue Journeys. The coral reef surrounding the island makes diving and snorkelling accessible from every villa.
Hyatt has since strengthened its presence in the archipelago with Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, in Raa Atoll, and in September 2024 announced a management agreement with SingHaiyi for Hyatt Regency Samarafushi Maldives, expected in late 2027 in North Malé Atoll. The destination is also attracting new players at the very top end of the market, such as Aman, which is preparing to open Amanolu in 2028.
