Best Mont-Blanc has announced the acquisition of Hôtel Miura in Voglans, on the shores of Lac du Bourget. Beyond simply adding a new address, the Savoyard group is taking on a property steeped in history, in a region it knows well.

A hotel with roots in Chambéry

Before it became Miura, the hotel was known as Le Cervolan. For nearly 50 years it served as a landmark for the wider area between Chambéry and Aix-les-Bains, and a place that mattered to certain Best Mont-Blanc executives long before it officially joined the group.

Fully renovated in 2023, the property has grown from 37 to 61 rooms and suites. It now houses the restaurant Zélie, the Dario lounge bar and a wellness area set within a wooded park. The refreshed look has kept intact what made the hotel’s reputation: a place people enjoy gathering.

A second lake in familiar territory

That continuity is precisely what drew Best Mont-Blanc to Miura. The group, already established in Chamonix, in Annecy — where it opened Hôtel Rivage with developer MGM — as well as in Les Arcs, Grenoble and now Val d’Isère, finds in Voglans a natural point of balance between its Savoyard and Grenoble addresses. It is a second lakeside property, after Annecy, in a territory the group knows well.

The Lac du Bourget area has, in recent years, also seen several operators strengthen their presence, notably with the development of Les Étincelles around Tresserve and Le Bourget-du-Lac.

A symbolic move for the family’s governance

Beyond its upmarket positioning and proximity to the group’s Chambéry headquarters, the acquisition carries a personal dimension. Alain Blas, Managing Director of Best Mont-Blanc, has said the hotel forms a link with the group’s spirit of family entrepreneurship: his father signed his biggest business contracts there when it was still known as Le Cervolan, at a time when the family was still present in Val d’Isère.

A clear commercial and MICE ambition

The aim of the acquisition is to raise the profile of a fully renovated property across the greater Chambéry area, while also strengthening the group’s presence with corporate and banqueting clients — segments it considers still under-served in this market. The deal comes as Best Mont-Blanc continues to expand its portfolio, notably with the planned opening of the Ysotop Hôtel in Grenoble in autumn 2026.

To that end, the group will provide the property with its commercial and support-function resources, with the ambition of making it an undisputed flagship for the region.

On 1 April 2026, France's Cour de cassation confirmed that a dismissal letter signed by the HR manager of another company within the employer's group was without real and serious cause, in the absence of proof of her authority over the subsidiary concerned. The Court also partially quashed the ruling on a separate point, leaving the door open to additional sums. The case involves an automotive distribution group, but the principle established is directly relevant to hotel groups, which are often structured with multiple subsidiaries and shared HR functions.
