Three acquisitions to establish a new European player
Ireland-based Clear Sky International has announced the acquisition of three companies operating in the European holiday distribution market.
The transactions involve Holidays&Co, founded by Guillaume Patrizi; Destination Express, established by Frédéric Hernandez; and Campsited, an Irish company specialising in campsite bookings and outdoor experiences.
These acquisitions bring six complementary commercial brands under the group’s umbrella.
| Acquired company | Brands brought together | Specialisms |
|---|---|---|
| Holidays&Co | Camping-and-Co.com, TripandCo.com | Camping and holiday rentals |
| Destination Express | Mobilhome-Express.fr, Location-Vacances-Express.com, Ski-Express.com | Holiday comparison and distribution |
| Campsited | Campsited | Camping and outdoor leisure across Europe |
The three companies will continue to operate their respective brands and maintain relationships with customers and accommodation partners.
Clear Sky International nevertheless intends to progressively combine technological resources, accommodation inventory and distribution capabilities across the businesses.
A consolidation strategy in a still-fragmented market
The strategy is based on a clear observation: despite the development of digital platforms, the European camping and holiday rental market remains highly fragmented, comprising numerous national and regional operators.
Booking behaviour, commercial channels and relationships with accommodation providers vary considerably from one country to another.
Clear Sky International aims to capitalise on this fragmentation by bringing together companies with established brands and in-depth knowledge of their respective markets.
The strategy involves combining their expertise in customer acquisition, accommodation listings, price comparison, online booking and international distribution.
For campsites and other accommodation partners, the group aims to broaden access to European customers without disrupting existing commercial relationships.
However, the announcement does not specify the current booking volumes handled by the different platforms or the number of accommodation properties distributed.

Guillaume Patrizi and Frédéric Hernandez to support the group’s development
The founders of the two French businesses will retain a role within the new group.
Guillaume Patrizi, founder of Holidays&Co, and Frédéric Hernandez, founder of Destination Express, will serve as strategic advisers to Clear Sky International.

Frédéric Hernandez emphasises that technology alone is not sufficient to create value in tourism distribution. In his view, the project’s success will also depend on market knowledge and the quality of relationships with partners.
Guillaume Patrizi, meanwhile, stresses the importance of preserving the entrepreneurial expertise of the businesses brought together while developing shared capabilities at European level.
This structure reflects a desire to retain the acquired companies’ established expertise rather than immediately integrate them under a single commercial brand.
A platform open to further acquisitions
Clear Sky International does not present these three acquisitions as the conclusion of its strategy.
The group intends to continue building a European tourism distribution ecosystem and says it is open to welcoming additional companies and entrepreneurs with complementary expertise.
Its stated priorities include technological development, customer acquisition, international distribution and the sharing of expertise.
At this stage, no transaction values, consolidated revenue figures or financial targets have been disclosed.
The announcement also provides no details of the new group’s ownership structure, financing arrangements or timetable for operational integration.
LTH Analysis | Tourism distribution enters a new phase of consolidation
With these three acquisitions, Clear Sky International is pursuing a strategy of horizontal consolidation in tourism distribution rather than vertical integration based on owning or directly operating accommodation properties.
The model offers an economic rationale: aggregating customer audiences, pooling technology investment and extending inventory distribution without directly bearing the real estate and operating costs of the campsites or holiday residences being marketed.
For operators, the emergence of a new pan-European intermediary could provide greater diversification of distribution channels and broader access to international customers. However, it also raises familiar distribution challenges: customer acquisition costs, commission levels, control over commercial relationships and dependence on platforms.
For Clear Sky International, the main challenge will be to turn the combination of six brands into genuine operational synergies. Sharing technology and accommodation inventory will need to generate economies of scale and additional booking volumes without undermining the brands’ existing market positions.
The absence of financial data makes it premature to assess the group’s valuation or the expected profitability of the acquisitions.
The strategic significance of the transactions therefore lies less in the number of brands brought together than in the group’s ability to build a sufficiently integrated European distribution platform to compete with established operators while maintaining close relationships with accommodation providers.
