↑ Opening in September within one of Selangor's most ambitious developments, ASAI Gamuda Cove brings together 280 rooms, locally inspired dining, and easy access to wetlands and waterpark attractions in a well-connected destination near Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Sepang International Circuit
Dusit International, the Thai hotel and property group, will welcome its first guests at ASAI Gamuda Cove on 15 September 2026. Located around 20 minutes’ drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the 13-storey, 280-room property becomes the largest to date under the ASAI Hotels lifestyle brand, as well as the group’s second hotel in Malaysia. The opening comes just weeks ahead of Formula 1’s return to the neighbouring Sepang circuit.
A second Malaysian foothold for Dusit
ASAI Gamuda Cove marks the ASAI Hotels brand’s entry into the Malaysian market, nearly two years after the opening of Dusit Princess Melaka in December 2024, the group’s first address in the country. It is also the first ASAI hotel located outside an urban district, with the brand having previously counted three addresses in Bangkok and Kyoto.
With this opening, ASAI Gamuda Cove becomes the brand’s fourth operating hotel, alongside ASAI Bangkok Chinatown, ASAI Bangkok Sathorn and ASAI Kyoto Shijo. Dusit is thereby continuing to build momentum behind a brand designed for travellers seeking functional rooms, accessible rates and close proximity to their destination.
Gamuda Cove, a “district” under active development
The hotel is situated within the Gamuda Cove township, a 619-hectare urban development in the state of Selangor. It sits alongside the Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, a 450-hectare nature reserve dedicated to observing local wildlife and a rare freshwater wetland ecosystem, as well as the Wetlands Arboretum, a 36-hectare living tree museum offering hiking trails and birdwatching activities.
The district also includes the family-oriented SplashMania waterpark, with 39 slides and attractions, along with Discovery Park, an outdoor leisure and entertainment hub. An electric tram network connects the development’s main zones, allowing visitors to move between natural, recreational and retail areas without needing a private vehicle.
The property is also around 20 minutes’ drive from Sepang International Circuit, where Formula 1 is set to return for the first time since 2017, with a race scheduled from 2 to 4 October 2026 — referred to in the group’s press release as the “Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia”, a designation used verbatim by Dusit in its announcement.
280 rooms designed for flexibility
The design of ASAI Gamuda Cove prioritises comfort, space optimisation and configuration flexibility. The offering ranges from compact rooms for solo travellers or couples to rooms with balconies, bunk-bed configurations and a two-bedroom family category accommodating up to six people. Some rooms overlook the wetlands; all feature high-speed Wi-Fi, smart TVs, rain showers and practical storage.
The hotel also features an infinity pool overlooking the wetlands, a gym, coworking spaces, and flexible meeting and event spaces accommodating up to 100 people. The dining offer is built around three venues focused on Malaysian cuisine, complemented by Thai and international options: Nasi & Khao restaurant for everyday dining, the Tea Shop for a curated tea selection and light bites, and the Pool Bar for cocktails with wetland views.
A brand strategy in support of group growth
“ASAI Gamuda Cove shows how our Live Local approach can work in a setting where nature, leisure and a developing community meet,” said Chanin Donavanik, Group CEO of Dusit International. He added that the hotel would offer travellers a convenient and comfortable base, while giving local residents new places to meet and dine, and that the opening, coming just ahead of Formula 1’s return, presented an opportunity to introduce the ASAI offering to an international audience.
This development forms part of a broader brand strategy for the group, which has recently structured its portfolio around several distinct brands, spanning the mid-market lifestyle segment led by ASAI Hotels through to the luxury segment, as seen in the group’s recent openings in China or its debut in Hanoi with Dusit Le Palais Tu Hoa.
Outlook: a growing Malaysian pipeline
The arrival of ASAI in Malaysia marks the latest step in the group’s growing presence in the country, following the opening of Dusit Princess Melaka in December 2024. Dusit’s presence in Malaysia is set to strengthen further in October 2026 with the opening of Dusit Princess Ipoh, with further details to be announced in due course.
This development is taking place within a particularly active Malaysian hotel market, alongside the upcoming arrivals of Waldorf Astoria and Conrad in Kuala Lumpur and the expansion of other international brands in the country, such as the Kimpton project announced in Kota Kinabalu.
