Spanish start-up ECO-ONE is opening a new edition of The Hotel Drop, its concept for selling second-hand hotel furniture online at reduced prices. The sale will run exclusively online from 3 to 6 September, or while stocks last, and will feature pieces sourced from four hotels in Madrid.

A now well-established digital format

This new edition builds on two successful precedents. Last year, a physical market held at the Hotel ME Santa Ana recovered more than 43 tonnes of furniture. A first online edition, launched in April, subsequently drew more than 20,000 registered users.

Buoyed by these results, ECO-ONE is now making the digital format a core pillar of its model, with periodic launches and units available in limited quantities. The company had previously run a comparable initiative in Spain as the basis for its sustainable tourism awareness campaign carried out with Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic in Cannes last May.

Four contributing Madrid hotels

The selection on offer in this edition comes from four hotels in the Spanish capital, including Hotel Zentral Castellana Norte, Hotel Nuevo Boston and Hotel Miguel Ángel. Registration, which is free, takes place on the eco-onemarkets.com platform and gives buyers priority access — a decisive factor given how quickly pieces typically sell out.

The purchase takes place entirely online, while furniture collection happens directly in Madrid.

The range on offer spans everything from lamps and mirrors to headboards and armchairs, with prices starting at €9.99. Available pieces include wall lights for under €10, headboards at €22, high-end tables at €30, lounge chairs with footrests for under €55, and mirrors for under €60.

A calendar built around moving season

ECO-ONE co-founder and CEO Carlos Fluixà explains the timing by pointing to the end of the summer period and the peak in house moves that Madrid sees every September.

A structured international rollout

Focused on promoting the circular economy in the hotel industry, ECO-ONE has more than five years of activity behind it. Beyond its domestic Spanish market, the company has taken this model to other European markets, notably France and Portugal.
