A return to the HBA network after six years of independence
Gianpiero Gaglione joins HBA Los Angeles after more than six years leading his eponymous design practice. During this period, he oversaw a portfolio of luxury hospitality and residential projects distinguished by bespoke interiors, a considered approach to materials and an understated aesthetic.
His recent collaborations include projects for MGM Resorts, IHG Hotels & Resorts and Dreamscape Companies. He previously held senior design positions at Kelly Wearstler, Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and HBA Singapore.
His career now brings him back to HBA. The firm has notably designed the interiors of the KYLN Hotel Suzhou, opened by Hyatt in China under the JdV by Hyatt brand. The Los Angeles studio is welcoming a professional familiar with both the firm’s organisation and the American luxury lifestyle market.
A portfolio of landmark hospitality properties
Throughout his career, Gianpiero Gaglione has worked on prominent properties across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. These include Santa Monica Proper, Downtown Los Angeles Proper, The Beekman and The Fifth Avenue Hotel in New York, Soho Beach House in Miami Beach and Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, California.
His experience spans the entire design process, from concept development and interior architecture to FF&E (furniture, fixtures and equipment) and project management. He draws on this multidisciplinary approach to create spaces rooted in craftsmanship, a distinctive identity and a strong sense of place.
He graduated from Middlesex University in the United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Arts in Product Design Engineering, awarded with first-class honours.
Preparing the studio’s next chapter
For Kathleen Dauber, Partner at HBA Los Angeles, the appointment reflects a commitment to investing in future leadership:
“At HBA Los Angeles, we are committed to investing in the next generation of design leaders while continuing the collaborative culture and high standards that have long defined our studio.”
“Gianpiero is the right person to help shape our next chapter,” she continues. “His creative vision, international experience and proven leadership qualities make him particularly well suited to balancing creative ambition, client needs and the complexities of hospitality projects.” Kathleen Dauber
In his new role, Gianpiero Gaglione will help define the studio’s creative vision and oversee projects. He will also mentor emerging talent and strengthen client relationships.
Designing interiors with lasting relevance
“HBA has an exceptional legacy in hospitality design, and I am delighted to join the Los Angeles studio at such an important moment in its evolution,” says Gianpiero Gaglione. “I have always believed that the most compelling interiors are those that feel authentic, personal and enduring, rather than driven by trends.”
“I look forward to collaborating with this talented team, bringing fresh ideas to the design process and creating places that are both memorable for guests and meaningful for our clients,” he concludes.
