IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of five new hotels in Taiwan, including the market debut of the HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts brand in the country, alongside the launch of the IHG One Rewards app on LINE. Unveiled on 18 August 2026 in Taipei, these initiatives strengthen the group’s portfolio, currently comprising 17 hotels across eight brands, as well as its digital footprint among local travellers.

Five new signings to diversify the portfolio

The five new projects extend IHG’s presence to Taipei, Taitung and Pingtung, spanning urban, cultural, hot spring and leisure destinations. The group is thereby positioning its offering across the luxury & lifestyle, premium and essentials segments, continuing a growth momentum already under way across Asia-Pacific.

Daniel Aylmer, Managing Director, Greater China at IHG Hotels & Resorts, notes that Taiwan offers rich tourism resources and a distinctive cultural heritage, generating a wide variety of stay opportunities. He explains that the arrival of new projects, including the market debut of HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts, reflects the group’s commitment to meeting evolving traveller expectations through a broader range of brands and experiences. He adds that the launch of the IHG One Rewards app on LINE allows the group to engage guests via a platform used daily, simplifying trip planning and loyalty services.

HUALUXE makes its debut in Taiwan

Launched in 2012 to embody the art of Chinese hospitality within the IHG portfolio, the HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts brand arrives in Taipei with HUALUXE Taipei. The property will draw on local heritage, attentive service, tea culture and the hospitality customs specific to the destination.

On the eastern side of the island, Crowne Plaza Taitung Zhiben Hot Spring introduces the Crowne Plaza brand to the renowned hot spring destination of Zhiben, offering an experience combining relaxation, nature and local discovery. In the south, Holiday Inn Pingtung City Center will become Pingtung’s first internationally branded hotel, bringing globally recognised hospitality standards to a region still under-served by international groups.

Shihlin: a testbed for dual-brand development

In Taipei, IHG is deploying a dual-brand structure with voco Taipei Shihlin and Holiday Inn Express Taipei Shihlin. voco Taipei Shihlin will mark the brand’s first hotel in northern Taiwan and its first new-build property, an approach the group has already proven in other Southeast Asian markets, as seen with the recent signing of voco Muar in Malaysia. The property will draw inspiration from the cultural heritage, commercial energy and lifestyle of the Shihlin district.

Holiday Inn Express Taipei Shihlin will complement this development by offering flexible accommodation solutions for business, leisure and short-stay travellers, a combination that allows IHG to cover several customer segments within a single location.

IHG One Rewards moves onto LINE

With more than 160 million members worldwide, the IHG One Rewards programme continues to diversify its digital touchpoints. The launch of the IHG One Rewards LINE MINI App in Taiwan draws on a platform widely used by local consumers, allowing members to manage their enrolment, points, loyalty status, benefits, and hotel information and bookings directly from LINE.

To mark the launch, IHG One Rewards is rolling out a series of initiatives throughout August designed to boost member engagement. Beyond standard account management features, users can access interactive experiences, earn LINE Points, enter to win concert tickets via Live Nation Asia, and take part in member-exclusive activities.

A development trajectory that continues

IHG Hotels & Resorts says it intends to continue developing its hotel portfolio and digital capabilities in Taiwan, working with its local partners and owners to build more relevant and seamless travel experiences. This approach continues the group’s global growth strategy, which was driven in 2024 by a strong pace of openings and signings, as detailed in IHG’s annual financial results.

United States | Goldman Sachs commits €351M to physical real estate with LCN Capital Partners acquisition

The Goldman Sachs Group announced on 18 August 2026 the acquisition of LCN Capital Partners, a platform specialising in sale & leaseback transactions, for a consideration of up to €351M ($410M). The deal gives Goldman Sachs Asset Management a specific area of expertise - the resale of corporate real estate while preserving its use through a long-term lease - after two years marked by high interest rates that curbed investment in physical real estate. For the hospitality sector, the acquisition is also a reminder that LCN held exclusive talks in 2025 to buy nine Silken hotels in Spain, before ultimately being outbid by Hotusa.
