According to Johan Cronjé, Marriott International’s Regional Vice President for Sub-Saharan Africa, tourism and economic demand in Uganda calls for hotel offerings that cater to a broad range of traveller profiles. He noted that the Kampala Marriott Hotel carries forward the heritage of the Marriott Hotels brand, while Marriott Executive Apartments Kampala complements it with a residential-style offering suited to extended stays, positioning the property across the business, diplomatic, MICE and leisure segments.
Architecture Built for Business and Diplomacy
The Kampala Marriott Hotel features 181 rooms and suites, including one presidential suite, alongside dedicated workspaces and high-speed connectivity. The building’s architecture, marked by a bridge connecting its two towers, offers views over Kampala’s seven hills and, from certain rooms, Lake Victoria.

A Seventh Address for Marriott in Uganda
This opening brings the number of Marriott International properties in Uganda to seven, spanning five brands from the portfolio. It forms part of the group’s expansion strategy across Sub-Saharan Africa, where several markets have recently welcomed new brands from the group. This regional momentum is also accompanied by a strengthening of Marriott’s lifestyle-segment positioning in Africa, illustrated in particular by the recent signing of an EDITION project in Cape Town.
The group, whose portfolio exceeded 10,000 properties across 148 countries and territories as of the end of June 2026, continues to diversify the geographic footprint of its Marriott Hotels and Marriott Executive Apartments brands, the latter comprising more than 50 properties in 20 countries and territories, primarily located in business cities within emerging markets.
