MGM Hospitality Group (Asia Pacific) opened MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay on 10 September, a 298-room hotel located in Shekou, in the Nanshan district of Shenzhen. The property sits at the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, serving as a maritime gateway thanks to its connection to the Shekou Cruise Home Port.
The group highlights a 60-minute connectivity radius linking the Greater Bay Area’s key cities, while also providing convenient access to regional and international resources. The hotel is embedded within a vibrant cultural district, close to K11 ECOAST and the Sea World Culture and Arts Center, which bring together art spaces, international dining and experiential venues aimed at a discerning urban clientele.

Pansy Ho, Chairman and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, said the hotel had never simply been a place to stay, but rather a stage where MGM’s century-old hospitality tradition meets the energy of Prince Bay, creating a distinctive urban waterfront living experience for guests. Architecture inspired by MGM’s cinematic universe
The architectural design, entrusted to GP Architects and LTW Designworks, develops a “seaside garden” narrative unfolding in three acts inspired by classic MGM cinema: a wooded sanctuary, a chromatic discovery and a peaceful retreat between mountain and sea. The architecture and interiors draw on the Prince Bay coastline and its port heritage to embody the brand’s mission, “We Exist to Entertain Your Journey”.
This aesthetic approach carries through from the entrance lobby, featuring a dramatic water feature, to an elevated art installation and a cantilevered tower crown evoking the deck of a cruise ship.
298 rooms facing the bay
The property offers 298 rooms and suites with sea views, all featuring floor-to-ceiling windows offering views over the bay from sunrise to sunset. Room sizes range from 50 to 364 square metres, spanning categories from 270-degree panoramic rooms to terrace suites, premier suites and a presidential suite.
The interiors combine motifs inspired by the marine world with an urban garden atmosphere, featuring bespoke art installations, connected in-room systems and premium bedding, designed for a clientele mixing business and leisure travellers.
Five dining venues
The culinary offering is built around five venues: the Chinese restaurant Yu Hoi Heen, the MEET PLUS restaurant dedicated to Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan cuisines, the Festival All-Day Dining, the rooftop The PURPLE Sky Bar and the Lobby Lounge. Together they combine local and international flavours, from business dinners to private receptions.
Over 3,000 square metres of event space
The hotel offers more than 3,000 square metres of flexible space dedicated to meetings and events. A 420-square-metre foyer, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, offers panoramic views over the urban harbour, while an 800-square-metre terrace hosts outdoor weddings and receptions. Additional meeting rooms, boardrooms and VIP lounges round out the offering for corporate forums and private events.
Wellness and sports facilities
The fitness centre and heated pool benefit from harbour views. The gym is equipped with premium Italian Technogym cardio and strength equipment, complemented by a dedicated studio for group classes and yoga.
An opening marked by a culinary collaboration
To celebrate the opening, the hotel hosted a gala dinner bringing together chefs Pan Sihui and Yang Dengquan, from MGM COTAI’s Michelin-starred restaurants Aji and Five Foot Road, and Li Yongsheng, General Manager of Yu Hoi Heen at MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay. The collaboration showcased the synergy of MGM’s integrated culinary portfolio as well as a cultural exchange between Macao and Shenzhen.
Yang Lirong, Chairman of the Chinese industrial group Yunnan Xiangfeng, the project’s local partner, said Prince Bay was an essential window connecting the Greater Bay Area to the world, and that by joining forces with MGM they were creating a landmark hotel embodying both the bay’s distinctive character and international standards, set to boost business and cultural tourism in Prince Bay and drive local consumption.
