Olinda Leung has been appointed Vice-President and General Manager of Sands Macao, the founding property of US group Las Vegas Sands in the special administrative region. The announcement was shared directly by Leung on LinkedIn in September 2026. The appointment marks her first General Manager role at a property, following thirteen and a half years at Sands China Ltd.

An internal rise through the ranks at Sands China

Prior to this appointment, Olinda Leung had served since April 2022 as Vice-President of Slot Operations for the group in Macao, overseeing a fleet of more than 6,700 slot machines across five properties: The Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao, The Londoner Macao, Four Seasons Macao and Sands Macao.

She had previously risen through every level of the group’s gaming division, holding the roles of Assistant Vice-President of Slot Operations from July 2019, then Executive Director and Director of Slot Operations between March 2016 and July 2019. Her career at Sands China began in April 2013 as Assistant Director responsible for table games planning and development in Macao.

A career forged in the international gaming industry

Before joining Sands China, Olinda Leung spent three years as Regional Account Manager, Asia, at Macao-based gaming equipment supplier Shuffle Master. She began her career in the gaming industry at Australian slot machine manufacturer Aristocrat, holding marketing and then sales roles in Melbourne and Macao, after an earlier stint in event public relations.

This type of career path, moving between gaming roles and hotel general management, is not unusual in Macao: several executives who held positions at Sands China Macao have gone on to international roles, as with Peter Wu, appointed President of Hospitality at the Kessler Collection. Olinda Leung also holds a Master of Management from Monash University, specialising in strategic management, organisational behaviour and human resource management, as well as a Bachelor of Professional Communications from RMIT University.

Sands Macao, the group’s founding property in the enclave

Opened in 2004, Sands Macao was the first integrated resort and gaming property built by Las Vegas Sands in Macao, ahead of the development of the Cotai Strip and the openings of The Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao and The Londoner Macao. The property has 289 suites and remains, more than twenty years after opening, one of the most iconic assets in Sands China’s regional portfolio.

The appointment of Olinda Leung to lead the property comes as Macao’s hospitality and gaming market continues to consolidate, driven by the expanding leisure and entertainment offerings of the major integrated resort groups on the Cotai Strip.
