UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle (UMHL) and Outernet London have announced a partnership to create a unified cultural district around Denmark Street, the historic heart of London’s music scene. The agreement includes the opening of the UMusic Hotel Denmark Street, alongside UMHL taking charge of several food and beverage concepts, lounge spaces, and the site’s music programming.

With more than 120 million visitors a year according to both groups, Outernet London has established itself as one of the world’s leading destinations for music, entertainment and immersive exhibitions. The partnership aims to bring together live performance, hospitality, nightlife and immersive entertainment within a single connected district.

A foothold in the historic birthplace of British music

Denmark Street, nicknamed London’s “Tin Pan Alley”, has been associated for decades with generations of British artists, its recording studios and its music shops. The partnership intends to draw on this cultural heritage to shape the site’s hotel and events offering.

London has seen several recent projects focus on restoring heritage buildings to create a distinctive hotel offering, such as Six Senses’ first UK hotel, housed in the former Whiteleys department store. The UMHL-Outernet project follows the same logic of showcasing urban heritage through a themed hotel concept.

UMusic Hotel Denmark Street: the brand’s second European address

The UMusic Hotel Denmark Street is due to open in the fourth quarter of 2026. The property will be the brand’s first hotel in the UK and its second in Europe, following the opening of the UMusic Hotel Madrid in 2022.

Located within the Outernet district itself, the hotel will benefit from direct proximity to concert venues, artist-led programming and the site’s retail and entertainment spaces. This location will allow guests to access an expanded cultural offering without leaving the property’s perimeter.

Cultural programming integrated into the Outernet ecosystem

Beyond the hotel, UMHL will take charge of several F&B concepts and lounge spaces on site, as well as the programming and operation of The Lower Third, Outernet’s Denmark Street venue dedicated to emerging musical talent. This will be managed in coordination with Universal Music Group’s global network of artists, labels and creative partners.

UMHL will also contribute to activating Outernet’s digital platforms through artist-led programming and cultural highlights. While Denmark Street forms the historic anchor of the partnership, notably via The Lower Third, the collaboration extends across the entire Outernet district and its screens — among the most advanced in the world — including the Now Building and Now Trending buildings.

The partners’ perspectives

Jordi Solé, President of UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle, said that Denmark Street holds a special place in music history, noting that for decades the location has allowed artists to find their voice, creativity to flourish and music culture to take shape. He added that the partnership with Outernet is intended to create hotel and cultural experiences that support emerging artists and carry that history forward.

Philip O’Ferrall, CEO of Outernet, said that music has always been a driving force for Outernet, and that the connection between this heritage and a platform able to reach mass audiences — both physically and through the site’s screens and immersive audio technologies — is what gives the partnership its distinctive character.

The rise of music-driven hospitality

This partnership illustrates the growing momentum behind hotel concepts built around music and cultural entertainment, a segment in which several international groups are now positioning themselves to capture guests seeking immersive, locally rooted experiences.

For Outernet London, the deal strengthens the hospitality dimension of a site already recognised as a major West End tourist destination, complementing its entertainment offering and event spaces.
