Atalum Hospitality: A new integrated platform
Javier Vich, Vice-President and CEO of Summum Hotel Group, announced the launch of Atalum Hospitality on 19 October 2026, following a strategic alliance between Summum Hotel Group and Atalaya Asset Management.
Atalaya is a platform promoted by the founding partners of Mazabi Gestión de Patrimonios, a Spanish wealth management and real estate investment company.
The new organisation intends to bring together three functions traditionally managed separately: hotel investment, asset management and hotel operations.
Its objective is to establish a structure capable of identifying real estate opportunities, arranging investment transactions, transforming hotel properties and managing their operational performance.
This integrated platform approach reflects a trend already visible in the French market, notably illustrated by the partnership between Magellim Group and ArMen Asset Management, bringing together hotel investment and asset management expertise.
A target of more than €2 billion in hotel investments
Atalum Hospitality has set a target of more than €2 billion in hotel investments.
This figure represents a development ambition, rather than the value of an existing portfolio or capital already raised.
Javier Vich’s announcement does not specify a timeframe for achieving this objective, the anticipated balance between equity and debt, or the first assets being targeted.
No initial acquisition has been announced at this stage.
The implementation of this strategy will depend, in particular, on the platform’s ability to attract investors and identify transactions offering opportunities for transformation and value creation.
Institutional investors, family offices and hotel owners in focus
Atalum Hospitality intends to connect several categories of stakeholders: institutional investors, family offices and hotel property owners.
The partnership aims to combine Atalaya Asset Management’s wealth management and financial expertise with Summum Hotel Group’s operational experience.
This structure is designed to support projects across several stages: asset identification, financial structuring, investment programme development, commercial repositioning and hotel operations.
Integrating these functions could facilitate coordination between real estate investment decisions and operational requirements.
Although structured differently, the approach recalls LRO Hospitality’s strategy, under which the operation of Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh was entrusted to Iconic Hotels & Resorts, the operating platform of its shareholder L+R.
However, the precise operating arrangements of Atalum have yet to be detailed, particularly the allocation of responsibilities between the partners and the structure of future investment vehicles.
Summum Hotel Group enters a new phase
For Summum Hotel Group, the alliance represents an evolution in its positioning within the hospitality value chain.
Javier Vich believes that the industry’s future lies in business models capable of bringing capital and operational expertise closer together.
The creation of Atalum Hospitality should therefore enable the group to participate more directly in identifying and transforming hotel assets, rather than focusing exclusively on their operation.
The executive also presents the initiative as recognition of Summum Hotel Group’s development and the expertise built by its teams.
He particularly acknowledged the involvement of partners and colleagues at Summum and Atalaya Asset Management in establishing the new platform.
LTH Analysis | Integrating capital and operations: A new model for hotel value creation?
The creation of Atalum Hospitality reflects an evolution in hotel investment strategies, with real estate decisions and operational performance becoming increasingly interdependent.
The traditional model separating property ownership, asset management and hotel operations remains widespread. However, platforms capable of coordinating these three functions may benefit from greater visibility over investment requirements, operational risks and opportunities to enhance asset value.
This approach echoes Cushman & Wakefield’s analysis of the evolving hotel investment cycle, which highlights the need to consider acquisition, financing, operations and disposal as interconnected dimensions of value creation.
For investors, one of the principal advantages of an integrated platform is the opportunity to align capital expenditure decisions, repositioning strategies and return objectives more closely.
However, this model requires clear governance, particularly when the interests of property owners, investors and operators are not fully aligned.
The Atalum announcement does not yet provide sufficient information to assess the new platform’s financial capacity. Its first completed investments, the capital actually deployed and the performance of its assets will be the real indicators of its development.
Atalum Hospitality therefore aims to move beyond simply bringing investment and hotel operations together, establishing a shared platform dedicated to creating and enhancing hotel asset value.
