Atmosphere Core, a leading hotel group born in the Maldives, has announced the signing of its 10th resort in the archipelago: ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru, an Atmosphere hotel, due to open in March 2027. Integrated into the Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts brand, the property will be positioned under the “An Atmosphere Hotel” sub-brand and will become the very first resort in the ONE BANYAN series, a collection of co-branded island resorts bringing a distinctive, independent identity to the group’s portfolio.

Salil Panigrahi, co-founder and CEO of Atmosphere Core, said that as demand for the Maldives continues to grow and diversify, the group is seeing guests seeking luxury stays that are resolutely personalised, where the emphasis now falls on the quality of the experiences had rather than simply adding amenities and services. With Amaraa Faru, he said, the group gives shape to its brand philosophy, “A New Experience Awaits You”, while responding to this shift in expectations. [LinkedIn profile]

A first-of-its-kind co-branded concept for the group

ONE BANYAN is presented as a unique concept within Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts, designed to bring together distinctive hotel identities while preserving each property’s individual character. The name Amaraa Faru draws on two cultural references: “amaraa”, inspired by the Sanskrit word evoking eternity, and “faru”, meaning reef in Dhivehi, echoing the surrounding marine life.

As the first instalment in the series, ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru will favour freedom and flexibility over overly formal luxury. As an “An Atmosphere Hotel” sub-brand property, it draws its identity from the spirit of the place, carried by its own story and rhythm, in response to a growing appetite for inspiring, memorable experiences.

An authentically Maldivian setting

ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru will become the 9th resort under the Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts brand worldwide. Located in Kaafu Atoll, it is a 45-minute speedboat transfer from Velana International Airport, set within a lagoon bordered by gradients of blue and green.

Guests will benefit from the Holiday Plan, Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts’ signature package including dining, wellness, snorkelling and other tropical activities. The group had already made a notable move outside its home market with its first European property in Italy, underscoring the group’s international growth ambitions.

A contemporary aesthetic inspired by local craftsmanship

Amaraa Faru’s aesthetic offers a resolutely contemporary design, introducing a new architectural language within the Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts portfolio. Anchored in the marine world surrounding the island, the style draws inspiration from traditional palm-leaf craftsmanship, in which coconut and palm fibres are woven into functional pieces. This age-old craft will be reinterpreted with a couture-like elegance, blending natural materials, Art Deco touches and eco-conscious finishes, in a palette of cream and soft green.

Guests will be able to choose from 118 beach and overwater villas, ranging from 100 sqm for standard beach villas to 164 sqm for family villas, with overwater villas at 117 sqm, each fitted with a private pool.

An expanded dining and wellness offering

An all-day dining restaurant will form the heart of the culinary experience, complemented by a main pool bar and three speciality restaurants, spanning Argentinian cuisine and an overwater Japanese restaurant. The resort will also feature a kids’ club, an ocean-view gym, a diving and watersports centre, and a shopping gallery.

The ELE|NA Ayur spa and wellness centre, the group’s in-house brand, will round out the offering with overwater treatment rooms, a 40 sqm saltwater pool, and a sauna and hammam.

Technology and environmental commitment

The resort will cultivate intelligent, high-end service, integrating technology seamlessly throughout the guest journey, in a spirit that is both relaxed and refined. Amaraa Faru will also incorporate solar energy solutions, water conservation systems and a zero-plastic approach, including on-site glass bottling, in line with Atmosphere Core’s broader sustainability commitment.

A new chapter for Atmosphere Core

Founded in 2013, Atmosphere Core has built a strong presence in the Maldives with nine resorts in operation across three brands, and two further projects in development, including ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru. The group’s international expansion continues with a heritage hotel already open in India and Italy, alongside plans for more than 20 future properties across Europe and South Asia.
