The Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel has welcomed its first guests following several months of restoration. Located on the Riva degli Schiavoni, the property offers a view of San Giorgio Maggiore from its rooftop terrace, while several of its rooms reveal the lagoon in a theatrical staging, with curtains opening as though on a grand stage.
“With the reopening of the iconic Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel, our fourth property within a remarkable portfolio in Italy, we open a new chapter in the history of this renowned palace,” said Rainer Stampfer, President of Four Seasons‘ worldwide hotel operations. He highlighted the long-standing collaboration with Gruppo Statuto to offer guests a new way of experiencing the grandeur of Venice.
Built in 1471 for the noble Dandolo family, the Palazzo Dandolo is one of the city’s finest examples of Venetian Gothic architecture. It is complemented by the Palazzo Casa Nuova, the former seat of the Treasury of the Republic of Venice, and by the Palazzo Danieli Excelsior. The first two buildings have been renovated by interior architect Pierre-Yves Rochon, blending historic heritage with a contemporary vision.
The hotel reopens with 120 rooms and suites, a number set to reach 168 units once restoration of the Palazzo Danieli Excelsior is completed, planned for 2027.
“The reopening of the Danieli under the Four Seasons brand marks an important milestone after months of meticulous work and restoration,” commented Christian Zandonella, General Manager of the property.
The interior colour palette, inspired by the Venetian lagoon, combines celadon greens, soft blues, terracotta, ochre and powder pink. The fully restored lobby ceiling of the Palazzo Dandolo reveals hand-painted gilding in a four-leaf motif on an azure blue background. Venetian mirrors, Murano glass, terrazzo floors and bespoke Rubelli textiles reinforce the local craftsmanship, alongside an art collection inspired by the Grand Tour era.
The hotel’s signature restaurant, Terrazza Danieli, has also been reimagined, with pastel and gilded tones replacing the previously darker finishes, without altering the venue’s architectural identity. Executive Chef Adriano Rausa offers contemporary Italian cuisine with a Venetian accent, with several signature dishes finished tableside. A Danieli Spa, featuring three treatment rooms including one dedicated to couples’ experiences, along with a sauna and hammam, is set to open in late 2026.
The Danieli joins Four Seasons’ Italian portfolio, alongside the Four Seasons Hotel Milano, the Four Seasons Hotel Firenze and the San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel.
