The Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa announces the appointment of Fiona Winger as General Manager, marking a homecoming for this Queenstown-born professional. She joins the property after a fifteen-year career in luxury hospitality spanning New Zealand, Fiji, the Maldives and Australia, with groups including Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Six Senses, Marriott International, Sheraton and Westin.
Fiona Winger most recently held the position of General Manager at Rosewood Cape Kidnappers, in the Hawke’s Bay region, where she oversaw operations, financial performance, team development and several of the property’s investment projects. She also led Matakauri Lodge in Queenstown and Robertson Lodges, following a three-year stint with Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, in Fiji and then the Maldives.
David Fraser, Vice President Operations Pacific for Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery & Emblems, praised a profile particularly well suited to leading the property into its next chapter, highlighting her experience in driving high-performing teams and complex operating environments.

Fiona Winger holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Hotel Management from the International College of Hotel Management, as well as a culinary diploma from Le Cordon Bleu.
