The Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa announces the appointment of Fiona Winger as General Manager, marking a homecoming for this Queenstown-born professional. She joins the property after a fifteen-year career in luxury hospitality spanning New Zealand, Fiji, the Maldives and Australia, with groups including Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Six Senses, Marriott International, Sheraton and Westin.

Fiona Winger most recently held the position of General Manager at Rosewood Cape Kidnappers, in the Hawke’s Bay region, where she oversaw operations, financial performance, team development and several of the property’s investment projects. She also led Matakauri Lodge in Queenstown and Robertson Lodges, following a three-year stint with Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, in Fiji and then the Maldives.

US investment group Gencom, alongside White Bridge Capital and international family offices, has announced the acquisition of InterContinental Miami, a landmark 652-room waterfront hotel in Downtown Miami. The transaction strengthens Gencom's real estate presence in Florida and represents its second InterContinental-branded acquisition following the purchase of InterContinental New York Times Square in late 2025. With this 465-room property, the Spanish hotel group is fulfilling a long-standing ambition to establish its RIU Plaza urban brand in the Catalan capital. RIU is scheduled to take over operations on 1 April 2027.
