Having led the opening of eriro Alpine Hide in Austria’s Tyrol, Henning A. Schaub now takes the helm at the five-star superior Bavarian property, at the foot of the Zugspitze.
Das Kranzbach begins a new chapter with the arrival of Henning A. Schaub as General Manager, effective 1 August 2026. Nestled at the foot of the Zugspitze, on the border with Tyrol, the Bavarian property is a five-star superior hotel & wellness retreat open year-round, set across a mountain meadow estate. It ranks among the leading addresses in upscale leisure hospitality in Germany, a status confirmed by its Relax Guide rating — information that is publicly available but not drawn from the appointment announcement itself.
Henning A. Schaub joins from eriro Alpine Hide, in Ehrwald, where he had held the dual role of General Manager and Gastgeber (host) since August 2024. There, he led the property’s opening as Opening General Manager, a mission he carried out for two years before stepping down in July 2026.
Two Founding Years at the Helm of eriro Alpine Hide
Henning A. Schaub‘s time at eriro Alpine Hide spanned the entire opening cycle of the Tyrolean property, from summer 2024 to summer 2026. In a message published on his departure, he expressed gratitude to the owning families for the trust placed in him in shaping the project, and to his team, whom he credited with helping build the property’s identity over two seasons marked by, at times, difficult operating conditions.
He also praised the collaboration with several professional partners who supported the property’s international profile, notably Small Luxury Hotels of the World, whose network today spans more than 650 hotels in over 90 countries. Commercial distributor Flospitality, agency unikateur GmbH, and press relations agency BIRD Travel PR were also cited among the partners.
A Career Built Across Central Europe, the Balkans and the Americas
Before eriro Alpine Hide, Henning A. Schaub headed Mamula Island, in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, from September 2021 to June 2024, as Hotel General Manager. His career rests above all on more than nine years at Design Hotels GmbH, the Berlin-based collective of independent hotels whose global portfolio growth La Tribune de l’Hôtellerie recently highlighted. There, he held progressively senior roles, from Brand Experience Manager to Director Travel Trade Relations, between 2012 and 2021, including stints as Sales Manager for Central and Eastern Europe and then for Western Europe.

His early career began at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, in Miami (the hotel is now closed), between 2007 and 2008, in Guest Relations and later Sales, Marketing & PR roles. He had previously spent six months at Montblanc, at its Hamburg headquarters, working in international public relations.
A Classic Hospitality Training, From Hamburg to Cornell
Henning A. Schaub began his hospitality career with a hotel specialist apprenticeship at Hotel Louis C. Jacob, in Hamburg, between 2004 and 2007. He built on this operational foundation with training in marketing and communications at the Design Akademie Berlin, followed by Cornell University’s General Manager’s Program, completed between 2023 and 2024 according to his professional profile.
His profile reflects a career built over more than twenty years in international luxury and lifestyle hospitality, with operational experience spanning six countries. His appointment at Das Kranzbach confirms the Bavarian property’s preference for a leader well versed in managing independent, strongly branded addresses, in an Alpine environment comparable to the one he has just left.
