Martijn Zengerink is taking over as General Manager of the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, a 237-room hotel located on one of Mayfair’s most prestigious squares. On LinkedIn, he says he is “pleased to share that he is taking up a new role as General Manager at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square”.

The appointment comes at a notable moment for the property, whose long leasehold was acquired earlier this year by Evolution Investment Fund for £1.1 billion, in a deal that also covered two neighbouring sites earmarked for future luxury hotel projects.

A career built at Marriott International

Martijn Zengerink had held the role of Multi-Property General Manager in Edinburgh since May 2025, overseeing the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa Edinburgh, the Courtyard Aberdeen Airport, and the two Residence Inn properties in Aberdeen and Edinburgh. He had already been leading the 269-room, 5-star Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa Edinburgh since August 2023, a property with the largest banqueting spaces among 5-star hotels in the Scottish capital.

Before joining Marriott International, he led the opening of the voco Monaco Dubai, the first hotel of the Heart of Europe project on Dubai’s artificial islands, developed by the Kleindienst Group. As pre-opening General Manager, he oversaw the construction, operational fit-out and launch of the 197-room property, which opened in January 2023.

His career in the Middle East also includes a spell with IHG Hotels & Resorts as Hotel Manager of the Crowne Plaza Jumeirah Dubai, where he oversaw the renovation and rebranding of the property from the former Ramada Jumeirah, delivering a 24% year-on-year increase in F&B revenue. He began his hospitality career in Thailand with the Onyx Hospitality group, including as Director of Operations at the Amari Bangkok.

An asset-management-focused education

A graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in hotel management from Hotel Management School Maastricht and an MBA from EHL obtained in 2024, Martijn Zengerink also holds a certification in hotel revenue management from Cornell University. His profile, geared towards owner value creation and asset performance, aligns closely with the challenges facing the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square under its new ownership.
