If the information revealed by O Jornal Económico is confirmed, it would mark Rosewood‘s entry into Portugal. The luxury brand, one of the world’s leading upscale hotel names, currently operates properties in cities including London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong and São Paulo, and is pursuing a sustained international growth strategy, with more than thirty projects currently in development worldwide.
The project would bring together two landmark assets on Avenida da Liberdade, the Liberdade 230 building and the Palacete Conceição e Silva, acquired by BF Grupo in 2024 with financing of €18.1 million, according to Jornal de Negócios on 15 August 2024.
Founded by Jorge Fonseca in 1989, BF Grupo has operated in property development for over two decades. This diversification into hospitality would come amid a strong acceleration of hotel investment in Portugal, driven by growth in the tourism sector.
Rosewood’s establishment would strengthen Avenida da Liberdade’s position as one of Europe’s leading luxury hospitality destinations, alongside brands already present there such as Four Seasons, Valverde and Sofitel.
