The Stichting Hotel Claims Alliance (SHCA) has announced the expansion of its collective action against Booking.com before the Amsterdam District Court, filing claims for 7,696 additional hotels. The organisation launched the proceedings on 30 January 2026 on behalf of an initial group of 3,087 hotels, seeking damages, among other things, for Booking.com’s use of anti-competitive price parity clauses between 2004 and 2024. The total number of participating hotels now stands at 10,783.
The SHCA plans a third and final expansion of the proceedings in autumn 2026, after which the total number of hotels is expected to reach around 18,000. Participation is free of charge, and new registrations are received daily. Hotels can join the action via mybookingclaim.com until 11 September 2026.
“Hospitality businesses across Europe have become aware of the damaging effects of Booking.com’s anti-competitive practices and are now seeking redress. The scale of this collective action reflects the determination of European hoteliers to defend fair competition and obtain compensation for the harm suffered,” said Alexandros Vassilikos, President of HOTREC.
For decades, Booking.com applied price parity clauses in its general terms and conditions with hotels. These clauses were found to restrict hotels’ freedom to set their own prices, contributing to Booking.com’s dominant market position and distorting competition to the detriment of properties, resulting in significant financial losses. Brought by the SHCA, and supported by HOTREC and more than 30 European hospitality associations, the action seeks damages estimated to total several billion euros.
The dispute will be heard before the Amsterdam District Court, whose international jurisdiction is not in dispute: Booking.com’s general terms and conditions expressly stipulate that Dutch courts have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes between hotels and the platform. The Amsterdam court is also already familiar with this matter, through parallel proceedings under way since 2020.
