The international hotel group founded by Gordon Oldham, The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, is entering a new phase of development with the opening, on 4 December 2026, of The First Cortina. This 76-room property strengthens the group’s European footprint and marks a strategic milestone in the evolution of its portfolio, now structured around three complementary brands.
The First Cortina, a new alpine address
Located on Corso Italia, one of Cortina’s most sought-after addresses, the hotel builds on the success of The First in Rome and embodies the group’s philosophy: preserving the identity and local roots of its properties, whether by breathing new life into historic buildings or constructing new ones. This editorial approach follows on from that already deployed at The First Rome, The First Musica, which opened a few years earlier.
Three brands, one design philosophy
The First Cortina completes the structuring of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts‘ portfolio around three distinct brands: The Pavilions, the group’s experiential hotel and resort brand; REVĪVŌ, its wellness-focused brand; and The First, a contemporary luxury positioning embodied by the group’s Roman properties. The group highlights its expertise in heritage renovation, illustrated at Casa Almagro in Madrid and at The First Rome, as well as its expertise in new-build construction, demonstrated at The Pavilions Phuket and The Pavilions Bali.
A dining offering built through partnerships
Following an initial success at The First Dolce in Rome, a second Velo patisserie address complements the hotel’s signature restaurant, Zuma Cortina. This dual presence illustrates the group’s restaurant strategy, built on both international partnerships and proprietary culinary concepts, such as ALTO in Italy and Phuket, Acquolina — The First Arte’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant — and NUTRIO, REVĪVŌ’s wellness dining offering in Bali.
REVĪVŌ, from seaside concept to alpine experience
Born from the REVĪVŌ Wellness Resort in Bali, the group’s wellness and longevity brand takes a further step forward with its rollout at The First Cortina. The hotel’s REVĪVŌ spa spans 1,000 m² and combines ancestral therapeutic traditions with wellness approaches grounded in current scientific data, within an alpine setting that draws on a selection of elements from the brand’s six-pillar offering. This adaptation follows on from that already carried out at Château de Fiac, where a REVĪVŌ spa was designed to fit into a more intimate château setting.
